Joe Biden Taken to Hospital for 'Further Evaluation' After Doctors Make Discovery During Routine Physical
Former President Joe Biden, 82, made an unpublicized visit to a Philadelphia hospital on Friday, raising renewed concerns over his long-speculated health issues. The New York Times reported that the hospital stop followed a recent routine medical evaluation.
“In a routine physical exam a small nodule was found in the prostate, which necessitated further evaluation,” a representative for Biden told ABC News.
According to ABC, while the nodule discovery doesn’t automatically signal danger, experts acknowledge it could be anything from a benign inflammation to a more serious condition.
Despite Biden’s public denial of any cognitive or physical decline during his time in office—telling The View hosts last week, “They are wrong… There’s nothing to sustain that”—a growing body of evidence suggests otherwise. Behind the scenes, top aides were bracing for the possibility that Biden, had he been re-elected, would have required a wheelchair during his second term, Axios revealed.
The revelations come from a new exposé titled “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. The book alleges a coordinated effort among Biden's inner circle to conceal the full extent of his physical deterioration, particularly the severity of his spinal degeneration.
“Biden’s physical deterioration — most apparent in his halting walk — had become so severe that there were internal discussions about putting the president in a wheelchair, but they couldn’t do so until after the election,” the book stated.
It also notes that Biden’s repeated falls while in office intensified private conversations about his long-term mobility. His physician, Kevin O’Connor, reportedly warned that another serious fall could necessitate a wheelchair due to the potential for a difficult recovery.
Still, Biden allies continue to deflect criticism, with Axios reporting that a spokesperson defended the former president’s capacity: “We are still waiting for someone, anyone, to point out where Joe Biden had to make a presidential decision or make a presidential address where he was unable to do his job because of mental decline. In fact, the evidence points to the opposite — he was a very effective president.”
But not everyone on the left is convinced. Some Democrats argue that Biden’s continued presence in the political spotlight is doing more harm than good to their party's future.
“It’s time for Joe Biden to go away with all due respect and let the next generation of Democrats take the mantle,” Democratic strategist Chuck Rocha told Politico.
“Every time he appears on a show or says something, it’s just another week or a month that we have to defend him and remind everybody that we got beat by Donald Trump, again,” Rocha added.
“For those of us trying to rebuild the brand, it does no good when you’re constantly reminded about the old brand that won’t go away.”
As President Donald Trump resumes leadership and pushes forward with his America First agenda, the contrast with Biden’s declining public image couldn’t be starker—a reality even some Democrats can no longer afford to ignore.
