Joy Behar Announces ‘The View’ Going on HIATUS After Trump Threats

Joy Behar may have said the quiet part out loud on Thursday’s episode of The View, stunning her liberal co-hosts — and the audience — by accidentally announcing that the controversial daytime program is being put on hiatus by ABC.

Behar’s off-script comment instantly raised eyebrows, especially among conservative critics who have long pointed to The View as a prime example of elite liberal media groupthink masquerading as daytime television. The show, known for its nonstop anti-Trump screeds and hostility toward conservative values, now appears to be hitting the pause button — and not everyone is convinced it’s merely seasonal.

The moment came near the end of the show, when Behar awkwardly asked, “Before we go, uh, on hiatus… am I allowed to say that?” while shuffling through her notes.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin responded with a forced laugh: “Too late now!” The audience chuckled nervously, seemingly unaware of what was just revealed.

Trying to recover, Behar attempted to offer a message of hope — for the left.

“Before we go, I want to tell people that the tide is turning. The tide is turning, and things are changing,” she said, head down and reading from her notes.

She then pivoted to Donald Trump, accusing Fox News and Rupert Murdoch of “creating a monster” and now working to take him down.

“I mean, the ultimate irony would be that Rupert Murdoch will take him down. Uh, Fox News, who created the monster, will take him down,” Behar claimed, referencing a Wall Street Journal piece that sparked legal retaliation from President Trump.

But the timing of the announcement — coupled with a White House warning — is what’s drawing serious attention.

Just one day before Behar’s slip-up, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers delivered a sharply worded statement after The View doubled down on anti-Trump rhetoric and promoted unfounded comparisons between Trump and former President Obama.

During that Wednesday broadcast, the hosts mocked Trump’s legal actions and floated conspiracy theories about why he continues to dominate headlines. Behar launched into another personal attack:

“First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6? Who was that again? That was not Obama,” Behar sneered.
“The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy. Green is not a good color.”

The next day, Rogers responded to Fox News, warning that The View could be “pulled off-air” if the partisan outbursts continue.

“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s no surprise that The View’s ratings hit an all-time low last year,” Rogers said. “She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off-air.”

Though ABC released a statement to Entertainment Weekly claiming the show’s ratings are up among some demographics — and boasted about being the “most-watched” daytime talk show — critics remain skeptical.

After a year of historic Trump rallies, media shake-ups, and increased scrutiny of anti-conservative bias in mainstream programming, many on the right are seeing The View’s hiatus as a possible trial balloon for cancellation.

Whether ABC plans to revive the show in the same format remains to be seen. But for now, Joy Behar and her panel of liberal elites may be forced to take a long, hard look at a political landscape that’s leaving them — and their audience — behind.
