Joy Behar's Sick Jab at Trump Was So Bad Whoopi Herself Stepped in to Stop It

How does “The View” manage to stay on the air?

Wednesday nearly turned into another disaster as co-host Joy Behar attempted to suggest that she wished President Donald Trump would take a trip on a rocket—implying that she hoped it would end in catastrophe. She was only spared from finishing her thought by her co-host Whoopi Goldberg.

For context, according to Decider, the discussion that day revolved around Trump’s activities on Tuesday afternoon at the White House. During the event, Department of Government Efficiency chair and Tesla owner Elon Musk showcased several Tesla models to the president, all while live-streaming on social media platform X.

Trump took a seat in a Tesla Model S, seemingly contemplating a purchase. He later shared a video of the moment on his social media platform, Truth Social.

As the co-hosts discussed the event, Goldberg referenced Musk’s role at DOGE. That’s when Behar nearly walked herself into a Secret Service visit by making an ill-advised remark about the president.

“I don’t understand how you can come in and say, ‘We need to trim all this fat,’ and not do the work to figure out where the fat is,” Goldberg stated during the discussion.

Behar then chimed in, saying, “I would have preferred instead of buying a Tesla, [Trump] would have bought a rocket from Elon,” before Goldberg swiftly intervened.

“Don’t do it. Don’t do it,” Goldberg cautioned her repeatedly, cutting to a commercial break before Behar could complete her thought.

As reported by Decider, Musk’s SpaceX had suffered its second rocket explosion of the year on March 6.

How does “The View” continue to get away with this?

Back on Feb. 27, Behar made an inflammatory claim that Musk—a South African native—had supported apartheid in his homeland. This led to her having to clarify the statement and plead with Musk not to take legal action.

Similarly, in November, co-host Sonny Hostin was required to read a legal notice on-air regarding Trump’s then-attorney general pick, Matt Gaetz, after she referenced debunked accusations of child sex abuse against him.

These are the kinds of missteps that seem amateurish.

Regardless of personal opinions on “The View,” its co-hosts are seasoned television personalities. They should be well aware of the responsibility that comes with broadcasting statements to a massive audience.

Trump has only been in office for two months. Can “The View” really make it four years without drawing the attention of the Secret Service?
