Kamala's Concession Call to Trump Left Her Staff Stunned: New Book Reveals

A new book discloses that an assistant to Vice President Kamala Harris described President Donald Trump as a “sociopath” after he was unexpectedly kind to her during a concession call last November.

Chris Whipple details the story in his book Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History.

Instead of calling Trump on election night when her defeat seemed inevitable, Harris waited until the following day, after the extent of her loss was clear.

As shared in a Daily Mail excerpt, Harris told Trump, “I’m calling to concede. It was a fair election. The peaceful transfer of power is important. It’s important to the country.”

“I hope you’re a president for all Americans,” Harris added, according to Whipple’s account.

The book states that Trump responded in a lighthearted manner, “bantering as though he were on the golf course.”

Trump complimented Harris, saying, “You’re great. You’re a tough cookie. You were really great. And that Doug — what a character! I love that guy,” referring to Doug Emhoff, Harris's husband.

An aide to Harris was reportedly disturbed by Trump’s remarks, calling them “odd and inappropriate.”

“I was like, what?” the aide recalled. “Honestly, I felt like, what is this? It’s so manipulative. He’s a sociopath.”

There were also some difficulties in setting up the call, as outlined in an excerpt from the New York Post.

Whipple mentions that when Harris heard Trump’s voice, she was “crushed by the weight of the defeat.”

The book also includes an excerpt published by the Guardian, where Ron Klain, who served as White House Chief of Staff under Joe Biden, criticized Biden's preparation for the disastrous debate with Trump in June.

Biden “didn’t know what Trump had been saying and couldn’t grasp what the back-and-forth was,” Klain said, noting that Biden had opted for a nap by the pool rather than preparing for the debate.

Klain was “struck by how out of touch with American politics he was,” the excerpt revealed.

Klain mentioned that Biden’s focus on interacting with NATO leaders led him to believe “half-seriously” that Biden thought he was president of NATO rather than the U.S.

The book suggests Biden believed that during the debate, “If he looked perplexed when Trump talked, voters would understand that Trump was an idiot.” Klain responded, “Sir, when you look perplexed, people just think you’re perplexed. And this is our problem in this race.”

In another section, Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle For the White House, by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, more details emerge about how Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) attempted to keep Kamala Harris off the Democratic ticket.

During a monologue on his show, Fox News host Jesse Watters discussed the new book, providing further insight into Pelosi’s behind-the-scenes influence.

Watters played a clip of Parnes, who described Pelosi’s reaction after watching Biden’s disastrous debate against Trump: “She watches the debate, she’s unhappy and she thinks that she doesn’t want Democrats to rush into anything in that moment because she thinks if they rush him out then Kamala is going to be in and she does not think that Kamala Harris can win. She’s in a pickle in that moment.”

Watters then aired a clip of Allen, who explained, “Her thinking was Biden had to get out and Harris was a disaster and what she was trying to do was get Biden out in time so the Democrats could choose someone other than Harris.”

“Kamala won’t be happy when she sees this, but nobody is more upset with Pelosi than Joe Biden,” Watters said. “According to the new book, Fight, after the coup, ‘Biden was with his friends on Air Force One and started naming the people he would never forgive for their betrayal. The first name out of his mouth – Nancy Pelosi. Biden and Pelosi may never talk again.’”

Watters then aired another clip of Parnes, who stated, “There is still a lot of friction between the two. She went on air on another network and basically twisted the knife, and he and his campaign aides were in shock. She essentially had her fingerprints all over this. The campaign knew it, he knew it, and I don’t think there’s going to be any love lost.”

The co-authors also revealed that Pelosi secretly advised Biden not to debate Trump at all.

As Biden approached his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, there was tension between his team and other Democratic Party figures, including Pelosi.

Biden’s weak and stumbling debate performance led other Democrats to lose faith in him, contributing to his eventual withdrawal from the race.
