Kari Lake Gets AMAZING News in Campaign For Kyrsten Sinema's Senate Seat
Former newscaster and 2022 Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is seeing significant success in fundraising for her campaign to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) in the upcoming election.
According to her campaign, Lake raised $4.1 million in the first quarter of this year, which is “roughly twice as much as she raised in 2023’s last fundraising quarter,” The Daily Caller reported. Currently, she has approximately $2.5 million in cash on hand.
Her Democratic rival, Ruben Gallego, raised $7.5 million in the first quarter and holds $9.6 million in the bank, outperforming his Republican opponent, as noted by the outlet.
“Kari Lake doubled her fundraising haul from last quarter. She is seeing strong support from grassroots donors and Arizona donors,” a spokesperson from Lake's campaign said in a statement. “Gallego is Far-Left, and out of step with Arizonans. Just like President Trump, Kari is performing strong in Arizona and will win in November.”
Lake’s campaign secured $1.3 million through 40,000 contributions from about 22,000 individual donors. Most donations were small, with 99% under $200. Contributions came from all 50 states, as well as Guam, Puerto Rico, and Washington, D.C.
A fundraiser in Washington, D.C., on March 6 generated $330,000, the day after Sinema announced she would not seek re-election. Gallego's campaign reported raising $1 million in the 24 hours following Sinema’s announcement.
During this period, Lake gained backing from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and endorsements from several GOP Senators, including Tommy Tuberville (Alabama), Josh Hawley (Missouri), J.D. Vance (Ohio), Rand Paul (Kentucky), Markwayne Mullin (Oklahoma), and Cynthia Lummis (Wyoming).
In the last quarter of 2023, Lake’s campaign raised $2.1 million, starting the election year with just over $1 million for campaign activities, according to Federal Election Commission records. By contrast, Gallego’s campaign raised $3.3 million in the same period and had $6.5 million available, The Daily Caller noted.
A Bullfinch Group survey conducted on Friday found Lake and Gallego tied at 41%, with 10% supporting an unnamed independent candidate. An Emerson College poll on March 20 showed Gallego leading by four points, with 16% of voters undecided.
The Cook Political Report classifies the race for Sinema’s seat as a “Toss Up” for 2024, alongside Senate races in Montana, Nevada, and Ohio, The Daily Caller reported.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has also endorsed Lake.
“Kari has proven that she will always prioritize the security and well-being of Arizonans and the American people and will not back down from a fight. I am proud to endorse her for the U.S. Senate today,” Cruz stated in comments shared with the Daily Mail in March.
Cruz highlighted Lake’s strong stance on immigration and border security, emphasizing the need for a capable leader in Arizona, which has experienced a significant increase in unauthorized border crossings.
“Border states have been on the frontlines of Joe Biden’s open border crisis for over three years, which is why we need a leader in Arizona who is not afraid to stand up and join the fight for a secure border,” Cruz said.
Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), another prominent conservative, endorsed Lake in February.
“I’m honored to endorse my friend Kari Lake to be Arizona’s next U.S. Senator. Kari is a strong, principled conservative, who knows and loves the people of Arizona and will make them proud as their elected representative,” Hagerty said in a statement.
“Kari is fearless, she doesn’t back down, and she will fight tirelessly to secure our border and make our country safe and prosperous. The stakes could not be higher and it is now more important than ever that we retake the Republican majority and get our country back on the right track for all working American families and citizens,” he added.
