Leavitt’s Future with Trump Admin Revealed After Pregnancy Announcement
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s recent announcement that she and her husband are expecting their second child sparked predictable speculation from media observers about whether she would step away from her role in the Trump administration. That question has now been decisively answered — and the answer is no.
President Donald J. Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, addressed the matter during an interview on Fox News, where she hosts a weekly program. Lara made it clear that Leavitt is not only staying on as press secretary, but is unlikely to take extended time away from her duties after giving birth.
“Karoline Leavitt is a machine, she’s going nowhere,” Lara Trump told host Lisa Booth, noting that Leavitt returned to the campaign trail quickly after the birth of her son, Niko, last year.
Leavitt herself confirmed the pregnancy in a statement to Fox News Digital last week, emphasizing both her excitement and her commitment to family.
“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” Leavitt said.
She also credited her faith for grounding her during the moment.
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” she added.
Leavitt expressed appreciation for the support she has received from President Trump and senior White House leadership, underscoring the administration’s family-friendly culture.
“I am extremely grateful to President Trump and our amazing Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro family environment in the White House,” Leavitt told Fox News Digital.
She went on to highlight that many members of the West Wing are navigating parenthood alongside public service.
“Nearly all of my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we all really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working for the greatest president ever,” she said.
Looking ahead, Leavitt said she is energized by both the administration’s agenda and her growing family.
“2026 is going to be an amazing year for the President and our country, and personally, I am beyond excited to become a girl mom,” she said.

A senior White House official later confirmed to Fox News Digital that Leavitt will remain in her role, making history as the first pregnant White House press secretary in U.S. history.
Leavitt has also continued to aggressively push back against what the administration describes as legacy media double standards. Earlier this month, she sharply criticized The New York Times and White House reporter Katie Rogers for suggesting that President Trump is cognitively unwell — a claim that stands in stark contrast to the outlet’s past treatment of former President Joe Biden.
Rogers and journalist Dylan Freedman authored a piece titled “Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities Of Aging in Office,” alleging that the 79-year-old president has scaled back his public schedule and appears tired compared to his first term.
Leavitt rejected the narrative outright, pointing out the hypocrisy involved.
“I will point out one fake news story over the weekend before I let you all go from The New York Times that took about one third of the president’s daily calendar and his daily schedule and said that he’s doing less than he did in his first term or he might not be fit for the job. That is unequivocally false and it’s deeply unfortunate that this story was written by the same outlet and the same reporter who wrote this: ‘Biden is doing 100 percent fine after tripping while boarding Air Force One,’” Leavitt said.
She continued by contrasting the press coverage of the two presidents.
“Oh, same outlet, same reporter who wrote that President Trump is not fit for the job. Are you kidding me? You all see him almost every single day. He is the most accessible president in history,” Leavitt added.
In 2021, footage showed Biden stumbling while boarding Air Force One, falling forward on the steps and later dropping to one knee. At the time, the Biden administration attributed the incident to “the wind.”
