Liberal Media Slammed for Finally Acknowledging Biden’s Flaws and Controversies

Mainstream media outlets and seasoned political journalists are now increasingly reporting on controversies that have surrounded President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party—issues that Republicans have highlighted for years.

“The New York Times has deigned to take an interest in the former First Son’s corruption,” wrote the New York Post’s editorial board, referencing Hunter Biden’s alleged influence-peddling—first exposed by the Post over four years ago. They criticized the Times for only now acknowledging the scandal, saying, “We’d say the Times’ willingness to at long last cover this comes better late than never, but it only published the story now that it doesn’t remotely matter anymore.”

A former Biden administration insider has also come forward with revelations about internal efforts to mislead both the public and the press regarding President Biden’s mental sharpness and age.

Michael LaRosa, who formerly served as press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden, spoke at a seminar hosted by reporter Tara Palmeri of Puck at American University’s Sine Institute of Policy and Politics. According to Fox News, LaRosa detailed how the administration tried to manage and downplay any concerns about the president’s cognitive condition.

Throughout the 2024 campaign, media figures regularly defended Biden amid growing doubts about his mental fitness. This included responses to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s assessment of Biden as a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” as well as viral clips portraying him as disoriented and a Wall Street Journal report on internal concerns about his behavior.

Although LaRosa hesitated to call the administration’s actions a “cover-up,” he did admit the team was aware “from day one” that Biden’s age posed a political risk.

He also revealed that his colleagues ignored and minimized polling data that showed Biden’s support was faltering ahead of the 2024 election, even as public sentiment increasingly leaned toward the belief that Biden was too old for a second term. Journalists who brought attention to these issues were often accused of peddling conservative conspiracy theories.

The situation worsened following Biden’s unsteady debate performance in June, which amplified public concern and led to intensified calls for him to step aside.

“There are some things that are true. I mean, like the gaslighting, there was a lot of denial of the polling. And I will use the term gaslight because that’s what they were doing the campaign, former colleagues,” LaRosa told Palmeri.

“The message to everybody was to make sure that you tell people it’s too early. It’s too early. These polls don’t mean well; it became too early, and these polls don’t mean anything,” he added.

LaRosa claimed the administration celebrated favorable polling results when Biden was performing well but dismissed the same data once his numbers dropped.

He also criticized the White House’s combative tone toward progressive media outlets such as The New York Times, which began reporting on Biden’s age and declining poll numbers more critically by mid-2024, according to Fox News.

Reports from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and others have now surfaced, revealing that some of Biden’s closest advisers had long voiced concerns about his health, dating back to the early months of his presidency.

Still, the administration publicly deflected any probing into the president’s cognitive abilities, often brushing off viral videos of Biden seeming confused as “cheap fakes.”

“I think if you were watching MSNBC, you probably believed [the White House] and were probably pretty shocked. But if you were, if you were consuming information, consuming data and looking at it objectively and trying to interpret it and process it objectively, then none of it was surprising,” LaRosa said.

He further stated that Biden’s staff was deeply hesitant to let him participate in unscripted press briefings, saying they were “scared to death.” According to LaRosa, the president simply “couldn’t compete for the attention economy.”
