Megyn Kelly Puts College Leftist in His Place After He Claims Trump Caused Charlie Kirk's Death

Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back when a college student at Virginia Tech attempted to smear President Donald J. Trump by blaming him for the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The exchange, which took place during a Turning Point USA event Wednesday, quickly turned into a lesson in reality for the leftist student.

“I want to know why you support a president who contributes to the rhetoric that got your friend Charlie killed,” the student asked, citing Trump’s recent rally comments and even twisting remarks from Kirk’s memorial service.

Kelly immediately cut him off: “What you said is not true.”

That’s when the student spiraled, claiming — without evidence — that “seventy percent of political violence is committed by Republicans” and insisting the Department of Justice had backed him up before allegedly “pulling it from their website.”

Kelly dismantled the talking point.

“First of all, let me take on the first premise of your question, that it was President Trump’s rhetoric that led to an assassin killing our friend Charlie Kirk. That’s a blatant lie,” she said. “It’s a defamatory blaspheme, and it’s inappropriate in this setting.”

The student tried to backpedal, but Kelly pressed harder: “Well, then you have no point. Then your point is utterly empty.”

She reminded the audience of what authorities have already confirmed. “[Kirk’s alleged killer] was motivated by leftist ideology. We know it from the bullet casings. We know it from the Utah governor. We know it from his own mother. Yes, we do! Let’s be really clear on that.”

When the student accused Trump of inciting violence against liberals, Kelly hit back again: “The president of the United States has not incited violence against liberals.”

She went on to clarify Trump’s joke at Kirk’s memorial: it was lighthearted, self-deprecating, and rooted in Erika Kirk’s extraordinary act of forgiveness toward her husband’s killer. “It was completely normal for a politician to be thinking about his political fights,” Kelly explained. “And by the way, Trump has every right to loathe his enemies. They tried to put him in jail for the rest of his life.”

The student lashed out once more, shouting, “Rightfully so! He’s a criminal!” But when Kelly reminded him that Trump himself had been the target of two assassination attempts in the past year, he had no rebuttal. The student meekly ended with, “Thanks for your time,” and walked away.

The moment highlighted the weakness of leftist rhetoric when confronted with facts. Kelly, channeling the spirited energy of Charlie Kirk’s own debate style, stood her ground. The student, like so many others, folded under the weight of truth.

And in a sobering reminder of where unchecked left-wing extremism leads, the fiery exchange came just hours after yet another ICE facility in Texas was attacked.
