Musk Threatens To Go ‘Nuclear,’ Pull Tens Of Millions From GOP Coffers: Report
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is reportedly threatening to yank tens of millions of dollars in political funding from Republican-aligned groups, according to an anonymous adviser speaking to NBC News—signaling a potential fallout between the tech mogul and President Donald J. Trump over a controversial government reform package dubbed the “big, beautiful bill.”
The unnamed adviser claimed Musk’s frustration has been simmering for months but has now reached a boiling point. “He does not give a f— about Republicans or the RNC, or House seats, or whatever,” the adviser said, adding, “He will blow them up; he will.”
While the aide asserted Musk hasn’t yet delivered on rumored donations up to $100 million toward Trump-aligned PACs, they confirmed the funds are now off the table. “It’s gone,” the adviser declared. “He’s going to go nuclear. He will support Democrats if needed; he absolutely will.”

Musk, who reportedly contributed an eye-popping $275 million during the 2024 election cycle—largely in support of President Trump—was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency in Trump’s second-term administration. The role cast Musk as the face of the President’s sweeping plan to slash bureaucracy and cut federal waste.
Musk embraced the mission with fanfare, gaining attention for his flamboyant antics—including wielding a fake chainsaw onstage while celebrating agency shutdowns and deep cuts to Washington’s bloated workforce. His “cutter-in-chief” image galvanized conservatives who’ve long called for draining the swamp.
But tensions escalated Thursday as Musk publicly lashed out at the Trump administration, accusing it of selectively withholding documents related to the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files—a topic frequently used by the left to smear conservative figures. Musk claimed the withheld material includes mentions of Trump, though no credible evidence has ever linked the President to Epstein’s crimes. Trump’s past association with Epstein has been widely documented, but he has never been implicated in any wrongdoing, and key figures like Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino would hardly remain in service if such accusations held weight.
Even NBC News conceded that much of the released Epstein material was already available in the public domain.
Still, left-wing operatives wasted no time trying to exploit the friction. Democrat strategist Simon Rosenberg celebrated the apparent rift, saying, “This is doing enormous damage to Donald Trump. There is no version of this that is good for him.”
But Republicans close to the White House pushed back hard, dismissing the narrative as premature and overblown.
“President Trump is the boss, and there can be only one boss,” a GOP operative told NBC. “If anything, this deals a blow to the Democrats’ lame attempts to paint the president as a puppet of the world’s richest man.”

Whether this dust-up signals a lasting political divorce or simply high-stakes brinkmanship between two alpha players remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: President Trump remains in control of his administration, and no amount of billionaire theatrics will change that.
