Nancy Pelosi Floats Rahm Emanuel for 2028, But Trump Has a Different Take

While Democrats scramble to find a viable 2028 contender after their historic 2024 defeat, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is already hinting at who she believes could take up the torch—Rahm Emanuel.

In an interview with The Detroit Free Press, Pelosi didn’t flinch when asked if the former Chicago mayor and Obama White House chief of staff would run. “I think so,” she responded, signaling her confidence in Emanuel's ambitions.

Emanuel, now the U.S. ambassador to Japan, didn’t deny the possibility either. Asked directly if he’d launch a presidential campaign in 2028, Emanuel offered a calculated response.

“Before I make a decision, I want to know that I have an answer to what I think ails our country, ails our politics, and ails the party—and they may all be the same answer,” he said. “I know what I want to do. We’ve got to get ready to fight for America—and that’s what I’m going to do.”

He also distanced himself from the radical fringes of his party. “We can’t get distracted by the cultural issues and lose sight of what Americans care about… We have to be able to stand up to the interest groups. We can’t look weak and woke,” Emanuel said.

But while establishment Democrats are floating Emanuel as a potential savior, President Donald J. Trump has a different—and far more entertaining—vision for the Democratic Party’s future.

In a blistering Truth Social post, President Trump mocked the Democrats’ 2024 defeat and sarcastically offered them a strategy to stay relevant by doubling down on radicalism.

“After years of being left out in the cold, including suffering one of the Greatest Losses in History, the 2024 Presidential Election, the Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet…” Trump wrote, adding that the inclusion of “our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani” would ensure the country's demise.

Trump’s scorched-earth takedown didn’t stop there.

He went on to call out Mamdani—a socialist New York assemblyman who recently defeated Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral primary—labeling him a “100% Communist Lunatic.”

“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line,” Trump declared. “Zohran Mamdani… is on his way to becoming Mayor… He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him… even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him.”

In the midst of this circus, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, another far-left darling, quietly dropped her bid to lead House Democrats on the Oversight Committee—just as her name was being dragged through the mud by critics for pushing false claims about President Trump’s policies and alleged legal issues.

As Democrats flail between embracing hardened radicals or trying to dust off relics of the Obama era like Emanuel, President Trump remains the dominant voice in American politics—setting the narrative, calling out the hypocrisy, and exposing the chaos engulfing the left.
