Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized During Overseas Trip
A routine international event took an unexpected turn for Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.
While details remain limited, a representative for Pelosi confirmed that she had been hospitalized in Luxembourg while attending official state events.
Jake Sherman, founder of Punchbowl News, shared the official statement on X:
“While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation in Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” said Pelosi’s representative, Ian Krager.
“Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals,” Krager continued. “She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our servicemembers during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history.”
(For context, CODEL stands for “Congressional Member Delegation.”)
Krager added:
“Speaker Emerita Pelosi conveys her thanks and praise to our veterans and gratitude to people of Luxembourg and Bastogne for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe.
“Speaker Emerita Pelosi was personally and officially honored to travel with the distinguished delegation, many of whom had family members who fought in World War II — including her uncle, Johnny.
“She looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon.”
Speculation quickly spread regarding the exact nature of Pelosi’s injury, as no additional details were provided.
Charlie Spiering, a reporter for the Daily Mail, shared an image of Pelosi “gripping” a delegate’s hand during the trip:
The situation also prompted some online commentary, including a darkly humorous remark referencing recent political tensions. One X user quipped under Sherman’s post:
“AOC works fast.”
This comment referred to recent reports about Pelosi allegedly maneuvering to block New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from ascending to the top Democrat position on the House Oversight Committee.
These developments follow reports of Pelosi’s rumored influence in the removal of ranking House Judiciary Committee member Jerry Nadler, as well as claims about her potential role—alongside former President Barack Obama—in sidelining President Joe Biden from pursuing re-election.
Pelosi’s hospitalization adds another layer of intrigue to an already tumultuous political narrative.
