New Court Filing Accuses Ellen DeGeneres of Causing 'Serious Personal Injury' with 'Negligent' Driving

She may have packed her bags and fled the country after President Donald Trump’s re-election, but Ellen DeGeneres is still finding herself in hot water back in the United States.

The 67-year-old former talk show host, who once built her brand around “kindness,” is now being sued in California for alleged negligent driving.

The Accident

According to a lawsuit first reported by TMZ, DeGeneres allegedly blew through a stop sign in Santa Barbara County in October 2023 and slammed into another driver’s Tesla.

The plaintiff claims she had come to a full stop at a four-way intersection, looked both ways, and proceeded cautiously — only to be blindsided by DeGeneres barreling through without stopping.

The suit accuses DeGeneres of “negligent conduct [that] fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person” and alleges that her reckless driving directly caused the collision.

The woman suing also says she has been left with “multiple serious personal injuries and damages,” mounting hospital bills, emotional distress, and what she describes as a “loss of enjoyment of life.”

She is now seeking compensatory damages for negligence.

Ellen’s Decline

This lawsuit is only the latest controversy swirling around the former TV star. DeGeneres made headlines recently when she announced she was moving to the U.K. to escape what she called the reality of Trump’s second term — a move critics mocked as the latest case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Her reputation had already taken a hit back in 2020, when former employees accused her of fostering a toxic workplace culture marked by “racism, intimidation and retaliation.”

Now, Fox News reports that new allegations have resurfaced, including claims that she mistreated male staffers and even male celebrity guests, particularly those who dared to speak with her wife, Portia de Rossi.

From “Be Kind” to Courtroom Drama

DeGeneres’s carefully cultivated image as a bubbly, friendly daytime star continues to collapse under the weight of scandal, hypocrisy, and now legal jeopardy.

While she lectures America from abroad about politics, she may soon be facing accountability for her actions right back home.
