New US AG Jeanine Pirro Delivers Huge News From Oval Office with Trump
President Donald Trump hosted a formal swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday in the Oval Office for Jeanine Pirro, officially installing the longtime judge and TV host as the interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
“Over five decades, Jeanine Pirro, known by millions as ‘Judge Jeanine,’ has devoted her life to the pursuit of justice, the defense of freedom, and the fair, equal, and impartial rule of law,” President Trump said while introducing Pirro to reporters and administration officials.
Lauding her storied legal background, the President didn’t hold back in contrasting her track record with the soft-on-crime culture pervading the justice system under previous leadership.

The President was clear in his expectations, stating, “So Jeanine Pirro, I have no doubt, will be an exceptional U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, one of the truly most important positions in our country.”
Pirro, never one to mince words, struck a firm tone in her brief address following the oath.
“My voice should be heard loud and clear. No more tolerance of hatred. No more mercy for criminals,” she declared, standing at the podium with conviction.

Her office wasted no time in taking action. Just last week, a major conviction was announced involving a Washington state man whose threatening livestreams raised alarms nationwide. The suspect, Taylor Taranto, 39, was found guilty of a slew of federal crimes, including unlawful gun possession and distributing false information, following an investigation by the FBI’s Washington Field Office and Pirro’s team.
According to a statement jointly released by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and FBI Assistant Director Steven J. Jensen, Taranto was convicted of “illegally carrying two guns without a license, possessing unlawful ammunition, and spreading false information and hoaxes.”
The case stemmed from a chilling incident on June 28, 2023, when Taranto broadcast himself driving near National Harbor, Maryland, claiming he was “working on a detonator” and planned to drive a car bomb into the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He later crossed into Virginia, abandoned his vehicle in Alexandria, and fled on foot, attempting to simulate a crisis for his audience.
The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force swiftly intervened, alerting local authorities and launching a coordinated response. Taranto was apprehended soon after driving through Kalorama, D.C.—an area known for its high-profile residents. His bomb threat was ultimately deemed a hoax, but authorities discovered two firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in his van at the time of arrest.
U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols presided over the case and found Taranto guilty on all counts. A sentencing date will be set pending review of a defense motion requesting his release until then.
Pirro’s office didn’t stop there. On the very day she was sworn in, the newly appointed U.S. Attorney announced convictions in a brutal drive-by shooting case that shocked a D.C. neighborhood.
The suspects—Rasheed Mullins, 27, and Josiah Warfield, 24—were sentenced to 90 months and 100 months in federal prison, respectively, for opening fire near an elementary school during daylight hours. Both men had previously pleaded guilty to assault with intent to murder while armed.
Pirro also revealed new charges in a disturbing assault case involving a senior citizen outside Nationals Park last August. Te’Vaughn Brown, 20, now faces a felony indictment and is set to go to trial on July 14.

View PlansIn her short time at the helm, Pirro has wasted no time making it clear that lawlessness in the nation’s capital will be met with serious consequences. The days of turning a blind eye to violent crime appear to be numbered.
With President Trump backing a tough-on-crime agenda and Pirro now at the forefront of enforcement in D.C., the message from the White House is unambiguous: law and order are back.
