Newsom Ripped For More Violent Rhetoric After Charlie Kirk Tragedy

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is once again under fire — this time for incendiary remarks made during an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s soon-to-be-canceled late-night program.

In the wake of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination and a surge in violent attacks on federal immigration officers, Newsom escalated his rhetoric by labeling ICE enforcement a “Code Red” and strongly implying that Americans should push back.

“I fear that we will not have an election in 2028,” Newsom said, staring gravely at Colbert’s audience. “I really mean that. At the core of my soul unless we wake up to the ‘Code Red,’ what’s happening in this country.”

The governor’s comments come just days after he signed legislation — drafted by his Democrat-dominated legislature — stripping ICE agents of their ability to wear masks to protect their identities. Critics warn the law essentially greenlights doxing of federal officers and their families.

The fallout was immediate. Within 24 hours of Newsom’s remarks, a Dallas ICE detention facility was sprayed with gunfire by a radicalized leftist who later killed himself after wounding two individuals and killing one illegal alien. Investigators said his ammunition was marked with the phrase “ANTI-ICE.”

On social media, users blasted Newsom for using language that many argued bordered on sedition.

  • “For a bunch of people that like to call everyone ‘Nazis,’ they sure do act like Nazis,” one user posted.
  • “There have been so many defections from the Democrat party all that will be remaining will be extreme in their views. Very dangerous,” another warned.
  • “Only the Democrats would go to war in their own country against the ppl of their country. For ppl from other countries,” wrote another.
  • “Using language to incite rebellion. Sedition / Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state,” one user noted.
  • “Gavin Newsom should face accountability of some sort,” another demanded.

Fox News host Jesse Watters dedicated part of his Wednesday monologue to chronicling the pattern of left-wing violence targeting ICE and Trump administration officials, pointing out how Democrats repeatedly deny or excuse these attacks while continuing to smear law enforcement as “Nazis” or “Gestapo.”

Vice President JD Vance also weighed in forcefully during a speech in North Carolina, directly linking Newsom’s rhetoric to the escalating violence.

“Here is what happens when Democrats, like Gavin Newsom did, say that these people are part of an authoritarian government,” Vance said. “When the left-wing media lies about what they’re doing, when they lie about who they’re arresting, when they lie about the actual job of law enforcement, what they’re doing is encouraging crazy people to go and commit violence.”

He went further, blasting Democrats for actively endangering federal officers.

“When democratic politicians encourage doxing, when they encourage us to unmask ICE enforcement officers, what do you think is going to happen?” Vance asked.

“You don’t have to agree with my immigration policies, you don’t have to agree with Donald Trump’s immigration policies,” he continued. “But if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell and you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America.”

The escalating pattern is clear: while President Donald Trump and his administration work to secure the border and enforce immigration law, Democrats like Gavin Newsom are choosing to stoke division, undermine law enforcement, and embolden radicals to violence.
