Newsom Tears Up While Blaming Trump For L.A. Riots Over ICE Operations

President Donald J. Trump is not backing down in the face of chaos erupting in Democrat-run cities. As Los Angeles descends into lawlessness over immigration enforcement actions, the Department of Homeland Security is preparing to deploy elite ICE tactical units to five additional Democrat-controlled areas: New York City, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, and northern Virginia.

The move comes amid widespread unrest in Los Angeles, where the city has been crippled by violent protests against federal immigration crackdowns. Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, visibly shaken during a primetime address, laid the blame not on the rioters but on President Trump, accusing him of "assaulting democracy" for exercising his constitutional authority to mobilize the National Guard and defend federal assets.

According to MSNBC, the incoming ICE units represent a coordinated response to the collapse of law and order in blue cities that have long flouted federal immigration law under so-called “sanctuary” policies. Under Trump’s leadership, the era of open borders and executive cowardice — as seen during Joe Biden’s term — is over.

This isn’t just about protests here in Los Angeles... Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault,” Newsom warned in a melodramatic speech Tuesday night, glossing over the years of failed progressive leadership that turned L.A. into what President Trump described as a “trash heap” run by criminals and foreign nationals.

President Trump, speaking from Fort Bragg, where he was commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, made it clear that he stands with the American people — not the mobs.

“What you’re witnessing in California is a full-blown assault on peace, on public order and national sovereignty… with the aim of continuing a foreign invasion of our country. We’re not gonna let that happen,” the President told U.S. troops.

“We will not allow an American city to be invaded and conquered by a foreign enemy. That’s what they are,” he declared. “We will liberate Los Angeles and make it free, clean and safe again.”

In sharp contrast to Newsom’s tears and finger-pointing, Trump stood strong, reiterating his commitment to restoring law and order — using every federal resource necessary to crush violent uprisings and protect American citizens from the consequences of Democrat rule.

At the heart of the dispute is Trump’s use of his constitutional authority as commander-in-chief to deploy the National Guard in defense of federal personnel and property. A federal appeals court in the liberal 9th Circuit temporarily halted a lower ruling that attempted to return full control of the California National Guard to Newsom, but the legal fight is ongoing.

Newsom’s rhetoric, meanwhile, grew increasingly erratic. He accused Trump of “taking a wrecking ball to our founding fathers’ historic project” and went on to claim that databases are being deleted, and that the president is engaged in a “war on culture, history, science, and knowledge itself.

The irony is rich — considering radical left-wing activists have spent the past several years tearing down statues, rewriting textbooks, and shouting down dissent in the name of progressivism. Yet now, facing a resolute conservative president, they scream about authoritarianism while their cities burn from within.

This is not about ICE. It’s not even about immigration. It’s about whether America still has the will to remain a nation defined by laws, borders, and sovereignty. And President Trump has made his answer clear: He’s not letting the radicals win.
