Non-Profit’s Plot To Instruct Non-Citizens How to Vote for Mamdani Uncovered
A New York City nonprofit has been caught on camera allegedly instructing a supposed noncitizen on how to illegally vote in the city’s mayoral election — and hinting that the vote should go to socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, according to bombshell undercover footage released by O’Keefe Media Group (OMG).
The video, posted to X by James O’Keefe, shows the executive director of La Jornada, a Queens-based migrant assistance group, coaching an undercover journalist posing as an unregistered immigrant on how to cast a ballot despite not being a citizen.
“La Jornada Executive Director Pedro Rodriguez Tells Undercover OMG Journalist Posing as an Unregistered Migrant to ‘Vote for the Guy That Starts with ‘M’ – Despite 501(c)(3) Regulation Prohibiting Political Activity by Tax-Exempt Organizations,” O’Keefe wrote in his post.
“Rodriguez Acknowledges Knowing the Individual Is ‘Not Registered’ Before Advising him How to Vote – a Potential Violation of Federal & State Election Laws.”
In the secretly recorded footage, the undercover journalist — identified by OMG as Mike Casey — approaches Rodriguez, saying:
“Yes, I’m an immigrant. They sent me here to vote. I was recommended to come here to find information to vote. I was given two, dos locations. Forgive me, I am, no Espanol.”
Rodriguez responds, “No, this is perfect for me,” before asking when the supposed voter registered.
When Casey replies, “I did not, I didn’t sign anything. They just told me to come here to vote,” Rodriguez acknowledges, “You’re not registered? Okay.”
Despite that admission, Rodriguez reportedly directed the undercover journalist to go vote at a local community college, telling him, “It’s three guys. The guy that starts with ‘M.’”
The only candidate in the race whose name began with “M” was Zohran Mamdani, who went on to defeat former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa on Tuesday to become the city’s mayor-elect.
When confronted by O’Keefe and his team after the footage was recorded, Rodriguez denied instructing anyone to vote for Mamdani — even though the exchange was caught on tape.
Potential Legal and Ethical Violations
If verified, Rodriguez’s conduct could represent multiple violations of state and federal election law, as well as IRS regulations that prohibit 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations from engaging in partisan political activity. Voting as a noncitizen in New York City elections is explicitly illegal under current state law.
La Jornada describes its mission as assisting migrants with paperwork and “helping them adjust to life in the United States.” Critics say that mission appears to have veered into overt election interference on behalf of a far-left candidate.

Meanwhile, new reporting from Just the News reveals that internal documents from the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) outline how the group’s New York City chapter — to which Mayor-elect Mamdani belongs — intends to pressure him to implement sweeping anti-Israel and radical socialist policies throughout city governance.
Mamdani is listed among the “New York State Socialists in Office” on the DSA’s website, alongside several progressive state legislators. The group describes itself as working to advance “a socialist vision for working-class people across our state.”
During his campaign, Mamdani attempted to downplay his ties to the DSA’s most extreme positions, while the NYC chapter reportedly helped present his candidacy as “moderate” to mainstream voters.
Now, as the scandal surrounding illegal voting advice unfolds, questions are mounting about the influence of socialist organizations and nonprofit groups in New York’s election process — and whether Mamdani’s historic victory was aided by unlawful political activity.
