Obama-Era Intel Official Was ‘Pressured’ To Back Trump-Russia Hoax

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has unveiled explosive whistleblower testimony alleging that an Obama-era intelligence official pressured a subordinate to endorse a fabricated assessment claiming Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump.

“I was pressured to alter my views,” the senior intelligence analyst-turned-whistleblower testified in documents now being used by the DNI to substantiate her July claims of a “treasonous conspiracy” by Obama-era operatives to “subvert President Trump’s 2016 victory.”

The analyst, a participant in the 2016 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that concluded “foreign adversaries did not use cyberattacks on election infrastructure to alter the US Presidential election outcome,” stated that his sign-off was sought in order to sway the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) toward backing a revised ICA.

That revision, completed in early 2017, became the cornerstone of the discredited “Russiagate” narrative, heavily reliant on the debunked Steele dossier. It alleged Kremlin-orchestrated hacking of Democratic National Committee emails and claimed Moscow acted to help President Trump.

According to the whistleblower, a supervisor insisted in January 2017: “There is reporting you are not allowed to see, if you saw it, you would agree… Isn’t it possible Putin has something on Trump, to blackmail and coerce him? You need to TRUST ME on this.”

When the analyst refused to endorse the altered conclusions, the “visibly frustrated” superior demanded: “I need you to say you agree with these judgements, so that DIA will go along with them!”

The whistleblower wrote: “I was aware that I was defying the [National Intelligence Office’s] direction to me (to misrepresent my views to DIA) based on a conscious decision to adhere to [Intelligence Community] standards, tradecraft, and ethics.”

Ultimately, the DIA refused to join the CIA, FBI, and NSA in approving the politically charged assessment—undermining the intelligence community’s united front and raising questions about its legitimacy.

The whistleblower also documented repeated attempts to alert key government officials, including the intelligence community’s inspector general, former Special Counsel John Durham, and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA). All such efforts failed to stop the altered assessment from being used to justify years of investigations and political attacks on President Trump.

DNI Gabbard praised the analyst’s courage: “The Whistleblower put their own well-being on the line to defend our democratic republic and ensure the American people learned the truth about how President Obama directed the creation of [an] Intelligence Community Assessment that knowingly promoted falsehoods claiming Russia helped President Trump get elected in 2016.”

She continued: “In doing so, the Obama Administration sought to delegitimize the 2016 election and President Trump’s presidency, subverting the will of the American people and enacting essentially a years-long coup against President Trump and the American people. Thanks to this individual and other courageous whistleblowers, the American people are finally learning the truth about the dangerous consequences of weaponized intelligence.”

Vice President JD Vance said the revelations point toward major legal consequences: “A lot of people” are about to be indicted over the Obama administration’s actions in the Russiagate affair. While not naming specific individuals, Vance described Gabbard’s disclosures as “conclusive evidence” of “an aggressive violation of the law.”
