Pam Bondi Goes Toe-to-Toe with Adam Schiff in Senate Hearing: 'If You Worked for Me, You Would Have Been Fired'

Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t mince words during a fiery Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, firmly standing her ground against Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who accused her of politicizing the Department of Justice under President Donald Trump’s leadership.

Schiff began his line of questioning by claiming Bondi had turned the DOJ into President Trump’s “sword and shield.” He then pressed her on an alleged FBI sting operation from the fall of 2024, asking whether border czar Tom Homan had accepted $50,000 in cash.

Bondi calmly rebutted the accusation, explaining that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel had reviewed the matter before she took office and had concluded the investigation, finding no wrongdoing.

Schiff referenced a Fox News interview from the previous month in which Homan told Laura Ingraham, “I did nothing criminal. I did nothing illegal.” Homan added, “I’m glad the FBI and DOJ came out and said that nothing illegal happened. No criminal activity.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also weighed in at the time, telling reporters, “Mr. Homan never took the $50,000.” Leavitt further accused the Biden-era DOJ and FBI of attempting to entrap Homan in a politically motivated operation just months before the 2024 election.

According to Leavitt, multiple prosecutors reviewed the evidence and concluded there was “no criminal wrongdoing” on Homan’s part.

Still unsatisfied, Schiff pressed Bondi again: “Did he take the money?”

Bondi fired back, declaring that Leavitt “is one of the most trustworthy people I know.” She then delivered a sharp rebuke that left the room silent.

“You know something,” Bondi said, “if you worked for me, you would have been fired, because you were censured by Congress for lying.”

Indeed, Schiff was formally censured by the House in June 2023 for using his position as ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 to “spread false accusations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.” He also infamously distorted the transcript of a phone call between then-President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the 2019 impeachment proceedings.

When Schiff asked if the committee could obtain any video or audio evidence of the alleged cash exchange, Bondi told him to “take it up with Director Patel.”

Then she turned the tables on him:
“Will you apologize to Donald Trump for trying to impeach him after you now know that Joe Biden tried to cover up Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukraine?”

Bondi finished with a devastating final line:
“I think you owe the president an apology for your entire career, frankly.”
