Pam Bondi Reveals Private Cancer Battle After Leaving DOJ

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi has reportedly been privately battling thyroid cancer after stepping away from the Department of Justice, according to a new report.

Bondi, 60, was diagnosed shortly after leaving the Justice Department in early April and has already received treatment, Axios reported, citing a source familiar with the situation.

The report said Bondi is now in recovery.

The news surfaced publicly Tuesday evening after former White House staffer and podcast host Katie Miller shared the report on social media and offered a strong message of support.

“Pam has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks,” Miller wrote in a post on X.

The diagnosis comes only weeks after President Donald Trump announced Bondi’s departure as attorney general, praising her work at the Department of Justice and indicating that she would soon move into a new role.

In his Truth Social announcement, President Trump credited Bondi with helping lead one of the administration’s major law-and-order pushes.

“Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” Trump wrote.

“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future,” he added.

Bondi also addressed her exit publicly, making clear that her loyalty to President Trump and his administration remained unchanged.

“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again,” Bondi wrote in a post on X confirming her exit.

“Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration,” she added.

Bondi also reflected on her time leading the Justice Department, framing her tenure as part of a broader effort to restore public safety and enforce the law after years of rising concern over crime and disorder.

“Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history,” she wrote.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has served as acting attorney general since Bondi left the department.

Although Bondi has stepped away from the Justice Department, she appears set to remain active in high-level public policy circles.

According to Axios, Bondi is expected to serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

The council is co-chaired by White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks and White House science adviser Michael Kratsios.

In that role, Bondi is expected to help coordinate work between the federal government and private-sector technology leaders serving on the advisory panel.

The report about Bondi’s health may explain why her transition out of government was handled quietly in recent weeks.

Thyroid cancer is often considered highly treatable when detected early, though treatment, recovery, and long-term outlook can vary depending on the specific diagnosis and stage.

No further public details have been released regarding Bondi’s condition, treatment schedule, or prognosis.

Bondi has long been one of President Trump’s most recognizable and loyal allies. Before joining his administration, she served as Florida attorney general and later became a prominent defender of Trump during impeachment fights, legal battles, and campaign appearances.

Her expected return in an advisory capacity suggests that her relationship with the White House remains strong, even after leaving her formal Justice Department role.

For many conservatives, Bondi has represented the kind of unapologetic law-and-order leadership that defined President Trump’s approach to public safety and government accountability.

As news of her diagnosis spread, supporters responded with prayers, encouragement, and well wishes, Fox News reported.

Now, with treatment reportedly behind her and recovery underway, Bondi appears to be preparing for the next chapter of her public life.

And judging by Katie Miller’s update, Bondi is taking on this personal fight with the same determination that made her one of President Trump’s most trusted allies.
