Patel, Bongino Lead Historic Drop In U.S. Murder Rates
FBI Director Kash Patel announced Monday that America is on track to record the lowest murder rate in modern history — a milestone he directly credited to President Donald J. Trump’s tough-on-crime agenda and decisive law enforcement actions.
The update came as President Trump deployed the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and moved to assume operational control of the city’s police department amid ongoing public safety concerns.
“And the murder rates are plummeting. We are now able to report that the murder rate is on track to be the lowest in US history, in modern reported US history, thanks to this team behind me and President Trump’s priorities,” Patel said at a press conference.

View PlansAccording to Patel, the FBI has made staggering gains in multiple fronts of public safety enforcement this year:
- Over 4,000 child victims identified and rescued — a 33% increase from last year.
- 1,500 kilograms of fentanyl seized — a 25% increase, enough to kill an estimated 115 million Americans.
- 19,000 arrests made — double the total from the same period in 2024.
- 1,600 violent offenders targeting children apprehended, including 270 human traffickers of minors.
“Cops are getting after it. The FBI has arrested 19,000 people this year alone, thanks to President Trump’s administration. That’s double than where we were this time last year,” Patel said.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino reinforced the message in a post on X, writing:
“The President’s pledge to clean up the streets is producing real results. This is just the start. More updates coming.”
Patel closed by directly addressing President Trump:
“Mr. President, this is what happens when you have great leadership — the Attorney General with Pam Bondi, your administration’s priority of protecting the homeland and protecting American citizens and protecting our children.”
In a separate but equally significant victory for law enforcement, U.S. Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced federal charges against five individuals in a massive labor and sex trafficking conspiracy spanning multiple hotels in the Omaha metro area and central Nebraska.
According to the Justice Department, the defendants allegedly owned, operated, and managed several hotels where undocumented immigrants, including minors as young as twelve, were forced to work long hours for little or no pay. Authorities executed federal search warrants in the early morning hours of August 12, 2025, rescuing 10 minors and 17 adults from squalid, unsafe living conditions.
A federal affidavit described horrifying scenes — victims made to sleep on floors in rooms crawling with cockroaches, while being forced to pay the traffickers for their own substandard lodging.

“There is no evil greater than the evil that seeks to trap, oppress, and exploit human beings for profit or pleasure,” Woods said in a statement.
“Where that evil exists, Nebraska law enforcement working together at the federal, state, and local levels, as occurred in this case, will seek it, find it, root it out, and ensure every rescued victim has an opportunity to obtain justice and freedom from their captors.”
