Patel Hints At Jan. 6 Bombshell That Will ‘Surprise and Shock People’
As new investigations peel back the layers of government involvement in the events of January 6, FBI Director Kash Patel says the findings will be nothing short of explosive.
Appearing Wednesday on Fox News’ Special Report, Patel previewed a soon-to-be-released report confirming what many Americans have long suspected: the FBI had informants embedded at the Capitol on that fateful day.
“People have had questions about January 6 and whether or not there were FBI sources, not agents, sources on the ground during January 6. And I told you I would get you the definitive answer to that, and we have. And we are in the process, again, of working with our partners to divulge that information. It is coming,” Patel told anchor Bret Baier.
“I will tell you this answer will surprise and shock people because of what past FBI leaders have said about it,” he added.

View PlansThe question of federal involvement in the Capitol riots has hovered over the national conversation for years, especially as President Donald Trump and his supporters have called out political targeting and weaponization of government agencies. Patel’s revelation marks a critical turning point in the public’s understanding of what actually occurred—and who may have played a role behind the scenes.
When pressed by Baier about former FBI Director Chris Wray’s testimony that 26 FBI confidential human sources were “in and around” the Capitol—but supposedly no agents—Patel pushed back.
“I can say that’s definitely a piece of the truth,” he said. “Why it took a ton of time in questioning in Congress for the director to get that point is what I’m trying to eliminate from the FBI.”
“If Congress asks you a question under oath, whether or not there were sources, in and around January 6 at the Capitol. You, as the FBI director, need to know that and not to deflect and give a D.C. answer. You have to be prepared for that. That’s the answer we are giving. That’s the answer that Chris Wray should have given,” Patel said.
“Yeah. Because the American people deserve that,” he added, confirming that full disclosure is on its way.
Meanwhile, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino—brought in under the Trump administration to help clean house—revealed Thursday that investigators recently found explosive material dating back to James Comey’s tenure, material that had been “hidden from us” in an internal FBI room.
“I wouldn’t call it hidden, but hidden from us at least and not mentioned to us, and then we found stuff in there and a lot of it’s from the Comey-era, and we are working our damndest right now to declassify,” Bongino told Fox News on May 29.
While exact details remain classified, Bongino emphasized that this material bypassed normal FBI protocols—a troubling revelation for an agency tasked with enforcing the law, not circumventing it.
“Once that gets done and that gets out there, and you read some of the stuff, we found that … was not processed through the normal procedure, digitizing it, putting it in FBI records. We found it in bags hiding under Jim Comey’s FBI, and you’re going to be stunned,” Bongino said.
Critics have long accused Comey of politicizing the FBI and turning it into a tool of the D.C. elite. His sudden dismissal during Trump’s first term sparked outrage from the left, but for conservatives, it was a long-overdue housecleaning.
Comey also drew attention this month for a bizarre Instagram post, displaying seashells arranged to spell “8647” and captioned: “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.”
While media allies may brush it off as innocent, several White House officials believe it was a thinly veiled threat against President Trump.
The numbers carry clear cultural meaning. The term “86” is widely understood to mean eliminate, reject, or even kill, while “47” references Trump’s position as the 47th President of the United States.
At a time when the Biden-era security state is under fresh scrutiny, Comey’s cryptic messaging and hidden documents only raise more questions about what was going on behind closed doors—and how far deep-state operatives were willing to go to retain power.
