Patel Says FBI Going To Chicago Amid Immigration Efforts: ‘Will Be Saved’

FBI Director Kash Patel is promising swift justice after two suspects allegedly rammed a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent’s vehicle amid escalating violence in Chicago and across several U.S. cities.

Chicago will be saved, and this FBI will continue to crush violent crime there, and all around the country. Heading to the Windy City now,” Patel wrote Sunday night on X.

According to DHS officials, the suspects — Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz — are being treated as domestic terrorists after allegedly ambushing agents on Saturday.

Martinez had a semi-automatic handgun and a history of doxxing federal agents,” DHS said in a statement. “She took defensive fire from CBP agents and has been discharged from the hospital and is currently in FBI custody. The driver of another vehicle, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, has also been apprehended.”

Patel confirmed the arrests, saying the pair have been charged with assaulting federal officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon.

Attack our law enforcement, and this FBI will find you and bring you to justice,” Patel said.

A senior FBI official told Fox News Digital that both suspects are being charged under Title 18, U.S. Code, Sections 111(a) and (b) — federal statutes that criminalize assaulting or impeding federal officers in the line of duty.

The DHS said the attack scene “became increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement.

Another domestic terrorist was arrested for assaulting CBP at the scene,” the statement continued. “Following Governor J.B. Pritzker’s refusal to allow local police to help secure the area, Secretary [Kristi] Noem has deployed special operations teams to restore law and order.

The weekend violence marked the latest in a string of targeted assaults on federal officers in the Chicago area.

On Friday, Miguel Escareno De Loera and Widman Osberto Lopez-Funes were arrested and charged for allegedly using their vehicles in “deliberate attempts to ram and injure” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Later that day, DHS announced the arrest of Juan Espinoza Martinez, an illegal immigrant and Latin Kings gang member accused of placing a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.

According to DHS, a confidential source tipped authorities that Espinoza Martinez had offered $2,000 for information on Bovino’s location and $10,000 “if you take him down.” The message, shared via Snapchat, included the gang’s signature tag: “LK…on him.

Espinoza Martinez was arrested on October 6 in Burr Ridge, Illinois, and charged with soliciting the murder of a federal law enforcement official.

Depraved individuals like Juan Espinoza Martinez — who do not value human life and threaten law enforcement — do NOT belong in this country,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “We will not allow criminal gangs to put hits on U.S. government officials.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the attacks are part of a larger campaign by cartels, gangs, and known terrorist organizations targeting federal officers.

We’ve seen bounties placed on agents’ heads. We’ve seen caravans of vehicles following and cornering federal officers on duty,” Noem said. “This will not stand. We will respond with the full force of the federal government.

Patel echoed that sentiment, pledging continued coordination between DHS and the FBI.

The American people deserve safety, and those who target our agents will face the consequences,” Patel said. “No one — not a gang member, not a domestic terrorist, not a politician — is above the law.
