Pentagon Identifies Two American Soldiers Killed in Iranian Attack on U.S. Base

The Pentagon has identified two young American soldiers who were killed while defending U.S. forces from Iranian missile and drone attacks at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

The fallen service members were identified as 19-year-old Army Pvt. Isabella Gonzales of Carrollton, Texas, and 25-year-old Army 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan of Ewa Beach, Hawaii.

Fox News reported the identities in a post on X:

Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, part of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Gonzales served with the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment under the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany.

The two soldiers died following Iranian attacks against the base on July 17. Military officials said Gonzales died Friday, while Feehan died the following day. The Pentagon did not release additional details about the precise circumstances of their deaths.

Before their identities were publicly announced, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth honored the fallen Americans in a message posted to X.

“Godspeed, heroes,” he wrote. “Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.”

The message reflected the determination of an administration facing continued Iranian aggression against American personnel and military installations throughout the Middle East.

U.S. Central Command initially announced the casualties in a statement:

"On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing.

Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged. Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty."

CENTCOM said the identities of the fallen warriors were initially withheld until their families had been notified.

Muwaffaq Salti Air Base has become a critical location for American military operations in the region and has repeatedly faced attacks connected to Tehran’s escalating campaign against U.S. forces.

The deaths of Gonzales and Feehan serve as another painful reminder that American troops remain on the front lines against a hostile Iranian regime willing to target U.S. personnel beyond its own borders.

The United States has increased its strikes against Iranian military targets in recent days as President Donald Trump’s administration works to protect American forces, restore deterrence, and make clear that attacks on U.S. service members will carry serious consequences.

Gonzales and Feehan were only 19 and 25 years old. Their service, courage, and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
