Popular Conservative Blogger Jeff Dunetz Dies

Jeff Dunetz, a beloved conservative commentator, prolific blogger, Israeli historian, and former Breitbart News contributor, has passed away at the age of 67 after battling a series of medical challenges over the past year.

Breitbart News described Dunetz, a lifelong New Yorker, as a man of “excellent humor and a stable temperament,” noting that even in his final days, he kept his trademark wit and optimism, often joking at his own expense.

Dunetz graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, New York, and went on to study political science and government at the State University of New York at Oswego, later earning his BA in political science from the University of Albany and an MBA in management from Hofstra University.

He built a distinguished career in magazine marketing and advertising, working with major companies such as Disney Publishing, Nickelodeon, Discover Magazine, MTV, and Marvel Comics. Yet his true passion was political commentary and writing—especially on the subjects of American and Israeli politics.

Dunetz emerged as one of the leading voices in the center-right blogosphere during the early 2010s. In 2013, he founded The Lid Blog, a widely respected platform for in-depth analysis and commentary. His work was frequently published in outlets such as The Jewish Press, The Jewish Star, Breitbart News, MRCTV.org, Daily Caller, PJ Media, Washington Times, Hot Air, and more.

Dunetz also hosted The Lid Radio Show, which aired on SHR Media and High Plains Talk Radio, further cementing his presence as a tireless voice for conservative values, American freedom, and support for Israel.

Joel Pollak of Breitbart News remembered him as a trailblazer:

“Jeff was a warrior in the early days of conservative new media. I would see him every year in the press gallery at CPAC, working up a passionate rant about whatever the issue of the day was. He was a devoted friend and ally to all who care about America, liberty, and Israel,” Pollak said.

Dunetz is survived by his wife Lois, his son Perry, his daughter Alexa, and his first and only grandchild, Benjamin.

Tributes have poured in from across the conservative movement.

“I pray God cupped Jeff in His loving hands, carrying him swiftly to rest in His Kingdom… May God console his family and friends… He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith and has now received his promised rewards,” wrote Breitbart contributor “Dusty.”
“He was one of the truly original ‘Bloggers’, whose quick wit and brilliance was unmatched. We shall miss you sir, it was an honor to share the air with you,” added Breitbart’s Shaun of SHR Media.

Another Breitbart contributor said, “Praying for his family and friends. Rest In Peace and thank you for helping Breitbart become an early success. Hate to lose your voice and thank you for doing your part to save our country.”

Dunetz’s influence on the conservative media landscape, his unwavering advocacy for Israel, and his commitment to American liberty will continue to inspire future generations.
