President Trump Rejects Flawed Senate DHS Bill, Demands Full Funding for ICE and Border Patrol
Standing firm on his commitment to national sovereignty and the rule of law, President Donald J. Trump announced Friday his opposition to a Senate-passed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding measure. The President argues the bill is fundamentally flawed, as it conspicuously fails to provide the necessary resources for the nation’s primary immigration enforcement agencies.
As the partial department shutdown enters its sixth week, President Trump made it clear that any resolution must prioritize the brave men and women on the front lines of our borders. In a phone interview with Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich, the President labeled the Senate legislation "wasn't appropriate" due to its exclusion of vital funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol.
“Well, it wasn’t good. It wasn’t appropriate. Now what they should do is they should terminate the filibuster,” President Trump said. “In my opinion, you can’t have a bill that’s not going to fund ICE. You can’t have a bill that’s not going to fund any form of law enforcement. This whole thing is about the Democrats wanting to have open borders, no ICE, no Border Patrol.”
A House Divided: The Fight for Border Security
While the Senate moved early Friday to pass a bill that would fund the TSA and other administrative branches, it pointedly ignored the enforcement pillars required to end the era of unchecked illegal migration. House Speaker Mike Johnson quickly led the charge against the "inadequate" Senate version, advancing an alternative continuing resolution that reflects the mandate of the American people to secure the homeland.
House Republicans are NOT going to be part of any effort to reopen our borders or stop immigration enforcement.

Chuck Schumer’s gambit last night is a joke.
We must fully fund Homeland Security and support our brave law enforcement heroes who keep Americans safe. pic.twitter.com/IQK6Yg0fJv
Speaker Johnson criticized the rushed nature of the Senate's late-night maneuvering, noting on social media the lack of consultation with House leadership.
“I’m quite convinced that it can’t be that every Senate Republican read the language of this bill,” Johnson remarked. “We’re not doing that. And it is unconscionable to me that the Democrats would force some sort of negotiation at 3 o’clock in the morning.”
🚨 HOLY SMOKES!! Speaker Johnson just told the Senate to SCREW OFF, he's NOT passing their DHS funding deal that leaves out ICE

The standoff remains unresolved as Senate Democrats refuse to entertain the House's enforcement-heavy proposal, even as reports circulate regarding the dire need for robust border staffing.
Executive Action Amidst Legislative Gridlock
President Trump, ever mindful of the constitutional duty to protect the nation, reiterated his stance to reporters while traveling to Miami. While acknowledging the logistical hurdles faced by Congressional leaders, he remained steadfast that law enforcement cannot be sidelined.
“So I understand [Senate Majority Leader] John Thune, and I understand [Speaker] Mike Johnson,” President Trump stated. “They want to be sure that people aren’t coming into our country like they have for the last four years.”
In a move demonstrating decisive leadership, the President issued a memo directing the DHS to ensure TSA workers receive their pay during the impasse, citing the shutdown as a threat to national stability.
“These circumstances constitute an emergency situation compromising the Nation’s security,” the President wrote.
Thanks to this executive intervention, a DHS spokesperson confirmed that TSA employees—who have faced 42 days of uncertainty—should begin seeing paychecks as early as Monday. As the House prepares to vote on its version of the bill, the pressure remains on the Senate to stop playing politics with the safety of American citizens.
