Russian Cruise Missiles Destroy U.S. Company In Ukraine: Report
In one of the largest overnight barrages since Russia’s invasion began nearly four years ago, Moscow unleashed an unprecedented wave of attacks on Ukraine — firing roughly 614 drones along with ballistic and cruise missiles across the country. The assault killed one person, injured dozens, and even struck an American-owned electronics plant less than an hour from two NATO borders, officials confirmed Thursday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike as a deliberate escalation, calling attention to its timing amid President Donald J. Trump’s ongoing diplomatic push to bring the war to an end.
“Last night, the Russian army set one of its insane anti-records,” Zelenskyy said. “They targeted civilian infrastructure facilities, residential buildings, and our people.
“Several cruise missiles were lobbed against an American-owned enterprise in Zakarpattia,” he continued, describing the company as “a regular civilian business, supported by American investment, producing everyday items like coffee machines.”
“And yet, it was also a target for the Russians. This is very telling,” Zelenskyy added, per Fox News.
American Business Targeted
Flex Ltd., a Texas-based electronics manufacturer, confirmed to Fox News Digital that the facility produces only consumer goods and has no military ties. “This facility does not produce, supply, or support any military equipment or defense-related components,” a spokesperson told the outlet.
Following the attack, the company said “emergency protocols were executed” and the site was evacuated. “A few employees and contractors were injured, and six individuals remain in hospital and are receiving medical care,” the spokesperson added. “We are providing them and their families all necessary support during this difficult time.”
The White House has not yet commented on the strike. However, earlier this week President Trump hinted that Russia’s leader might be resisting peace efforts. “It’s possible that [Putin] doesn’t want to make a deal,” Trump said. “We’re going to find out about President Putin in the next couple of weeks.”
Peace Push Meets Russian Resistance
The overnight bombardment comes as NATO leaders continue to question Russian President Vladimir Putin’s sincerity about peace negotiations. Their doubts have persisted even after Putin’s face-to-face meeting with President Trump in Alaska on Friday.
“These attacks, the most massive in a month, illustrate Russia’s lack of any genuine intention to engage seriously in peace talks,” France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs told Fox News Digital.
“France reiterates its support for President Trump’s initiative in favor of a just and lasting peace and will continue to work with determination alongside Ukraine and its partners,” the French spokesperson added.
Last week, President Trump announced that Putin had agreed to meet with Zelenskyy within the next two weeks — a diplomatic breakthrough first reported by Agence France-Presse, citing German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
“The American president spoke with the Russian president and agreed that there would be a meeting between the Russian president and the Ukrainian president within the next two weeks,” Merz told reporters after his White House talks, according to AFP.
For his part, Zelenskyy has signaled willingness to participate. “I am prepared to sit down with him if it will bring peace,” he reportedly said.
The development represents the most significant diplomatic opening in years. Previous attempts by European leaders to coax Putin into direct talks with Zelenskyy have failed, but Trump’s leadership has forced a new round of negotiations despite Moscow’s ongoing aggression.
