Secret Service Makes Arrest After Driver Rams Car Into White House Gates

A man was taken into custody Tuesday night after ramming his vehicle into a security gate outside the White House, just hundreds of feet away from President Donald Trump, according to the U.S. Secret Service.

The crash occurred at roughly 10:37 p.m. near 17th and E Street NW in Washington, D.C.

“At approximately 10:37 p.m., an individual drove a vehicle into the Secret Service vehicle gate located at 17th & E St, NW, in Washington, DC,” the Secret Service posted on X.

“The individual was arrested & the vehicle was assessed and deemed safe. Our investigation into the cause of this collision is ongoing.”

In a statement to NBC News, the agency confirmed the driver was “immediately arrested” by the Secret Service Uniformed Division, and the vehicle was cleared by bomb technicians and the Metropolitan Police Department.

No injuries were reported. Authorities have not yet released the identity or motive of the suspect, though the timing and location of the incident have raised security concerns.

The ramming comes amid a surge of politically motivated acts of violence targeting federal buildings and officials across the country — a disturbing trend that has largely coincided with left-wing protests and anti-government demonstrations.

A photo circulating on social media appeared to show a small sedan lodged near the White House perimeter.

The incident also follows an alarming discovery in Florida just days earlier. Secret Service agents located a suspicious hunting stand positioned within view of the Air Force One landing zone at Palm Beach International Airport — just ahead of President Trump’s return to West Palm Beach.

“Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,” FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News.

“No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities.”

The latest incident outside the White House is one of several recent security breaches targeting federal institutions.

Last month, a Pennsylvania man was arrested after allegedly ramming the gate at the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office.

NBC News identified the suspect as Donald Henson of Penn Hills.

“Henson crashed into a vehicle entrance gate at the FBI Pittsburgh office at 2:40 a.m., then grabbed an American flag from the vehicle and threw it onto the gate before he fled,” the FBI said.

“This incident is considered a targeted attack against the FBI.”

Federal law enforcement agencies are now on heightened alert as they investigate whether the incidents share any ideological or organizational connections.

While the White House incident is still under investigation, it underscores the rising volatility and anti-government hostility that have gripped parts of the nation amid an increasingly polarized political climate.
