Security Contractor Linked to Biden-Harris Administration Arrested in Fatal San Francisco Shooting
The thin veneer of "expert" federal protection has been pulled back in San Francisco following the arrest of a former security contractor tied to the previous administration. Nation Wood, 25, is currently behind bars after a fatal shooting in the city’s Sunset District that claimed the life of 22-year-old Samantha Emge.
The incident occurred late Tuesday evening. San Francisco police responded to a residence at approximately 10:43 p.m., discovering Emge with a gunshot wound. According to The New York Post, she was rushed to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries. Wood was taken into custody on Wednesday on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
While the investigation into the exact circumstances of the tragedy continues, Wood’s professional history is raising eyebrows among those concerned with the vetting processes of the previous executive branch. On his LinkedIn profile, Wood touted his experience as a part-time security staffer who worked alongside protective teams for former President Joe Biden starting in November 2023. He further claimed to be an “independent pre-event site security advisor,” alleging he coordinated directly with the United States Secret Service on high-profile site walkthroughs.
However, the Secret Service has moved quickly to distance itself from the suspect. A spokesperson for the agency stated that Wood was never an employee, despite his public claims of elite-level coordination.
Despite these denials, Wood’s social media presence tells a story of proximity to the former Democratic establishment. Photos circulating online show Wood posing with former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, on a tarmac in front of a presidential aircraft during a 2024 event. Wood’s own posts referenced his role in security planning for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
The connections have sparked significant discussion online, with various outlets and commentators highlighting the suspect's past:

The victim, Samantha Emge, was a recent 2025 graduate of San Francisco State University and an aspiring interior designer. While Wood’s profile indicated he continued security-related work into 2025 during the current administration of President Donald J. Trump, his primary credentials and high-level access appear rooted in the Biden-Harris era.
Friends of the pair noted they were in a relationship, sharing photos of a recent trip to Yosemite. Local officials have been quick to downplay the potential for malice in a city already struggling with a reputation for lawlessness. Supervisor Alan Wong, representing the Sunset District, stated, “Early information suggests that this may not have been an intentional act.”
As the Trump administration continues its mission to restore law and order and ensure rigorous standards for those involved in national security, this case serves as a somber reminder of the importance of accountability and the vetting of those who claim to stand on the front lines of public safety.
