Stephen Miller Shreds Newsom For Inciting ‘Violence and Terrorism’
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday for what he called “dangerous and violent rhetoric” after Newsom compared ICE enforcement to authoritarian rule and urged Americans to “push back” against federal officers.
Newsom made the incendiary remarks Tuesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he smeared ICE raids as “masked men jumping out of unmarked cars” and claimed minorities in America are already living under authoritarianism.
“These are not just authoritarian tendencies; these are authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government,” the Democrat governor insisted, before vowing to physically resist federal immigration officers. He even suggested the U.S. may not have an election in 2028 unless Americans heed his so-called “Code Red” warning.
Miller called out the rhetoric as a spark for violence. “This language incites violence and terrorism,” he posted on X.

Within hours of Newsom’s comments, an anti-ICE gunman opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas, killing one and injuring several others. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed shell casings recovered at the scene were marked with “ANTI ICE.”
“Last night, Gavin Newsom called for people to ‘push back’ against ICE agents,” Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) wrote after the attack. “Today, an anti-ICE radical shot up a Dallas ICE facility. This is a direct result of the Left’s anti-ICE rhetoric.”
Yesterday afternoon, Ilhan Omar called for ICE to be "abolished."

The timing of Newsom’s tirade was especially egregious, coming on the heels of legislation he signed banning ICE agents from wearing masks to shield their identities — a move critics say endangers federal officers already facing a surge of violent threats.
It also follows months of Democrat leaders comparing Trump administration officials and ICE officers to “Nazis” and “Gestapo” agents, rhetoric that has coincided with escalating violence against federal law enforcement.
Vice President JD Vance slammed Newsom directly, warning that this pattern of Democrat fearmongering is fueling real-world bloodshed.
“When democratic politicians encourage doxing, when they encourage us to unmask ICE enforcement officers, what do you think is going to happen?” Vance asked.
Social media users also expressed outrage, accusing Newsom of outright sedition. “Using language to incite rebellion. Sedition — conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state,” one wrote.
Others pointed out the hypocrisy of Democrats branding their opponents “Nazis” while embracing rhetoric that encourages violence against American law enforcement.
Critics say that with conservative activist Charlie Kirk assassinated just weeks ago, Newsom’s dangerous words could embolden extremists already primed for violence.
“Gavin Newsom should face accountability of some sort,” one commenter said bluntly.
