Swalwell Denies Rape Allegations As Multiple Women Come Forward
Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell is facing a series of serious allegations from multiple women, including a former staffer who claims he sexually assaulted her—claims the congressman has categorically denied.
According to reports, the former aide alleges that Swalwell raped her in 2024 following a night of drinking in New York. She told CNN, “I was pushing him off of me, saying no. He didn’t stop.” The woman said she later awoke in Swalwell’s hotel room confused and injured, reporting bruises, cuts, and bleeding the following day. She also said she sought medical testing shortly after the alleged incident.
The same accuser described an earlier encounter in 2019, claiming she woke up naked in a hotel room with Swalwell after drinking heavily and had no recollection of what had occurred. “I really don’t remember it at all,” she said she told him.
The woman explained that she did not report either incident at the time, instead keeping the experiences private. “I just felt so dirty and gross, and it just became a secret that I lived with,” she said.
In addition to the former staffer’s accusations, three other women have come forward with separate claims of misconduct. These include allegations that Swalwell sent unsolicited explicit messages and images, with some interactions reportedly occurring over Snapchat.
One woman said she connected with Swalwell online over political discussions before meeting in person, where she became highly intoxicated. She described feeling disoriented and later finding herself in his hotel room with limited memory of how she got there.
“He was sitting against me, and every time that I would move away from him, he would get closer,” she said, adding that she felt “really fuzzy” as the evening progressed.
Another accuser, social media creator Ally Sammarco, alleged that conversations with Swalwell initially centered on politics before turning personal and eventually explicit, including late-night exchanges involving inappropriate content.
Several of the women described what they viewed as a pattern of behavior, alleging that Swalwell showed personal interest that escalated into sexualized interactions. Some acknowledged that his position as a public official influenced their willingness to engage.
CNN reported it reviewed messages, photos, and other materials connected to the allegations, as well as accounts from friends and family members who said they were told about the incidents around the time they allegedly occurred. In one case, the former staffer shared text messages sent to friends shortly after the 2024 incident, identifying Swalwell by name and stating she had been sexually assaulted.

Swalwell has forcefully rejected all allegations.
“These allegations of sexual assault are flat false. They are absolutely false,” he said. “They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything that I have.”
The congressman has also suggested the timing of the claims is politically motivated, noting they surfaced “on the eve of an election.” He has pledged to defend himself and emphasized his record, stating he has always supported and protected women.
An attorney representing Swalwell has issued cease-and-desist letters to two of the accusers, demanding retractions and warning of potential legal action if the claims continue to be made publicly.
Meanwhile, other former staffers told CNN they never experienced inappropriate behavior from Swalwell, describing him as professional in the workplace.
The allegations emerge as Swalwell gains visibility in California’s gubernatorial race, adding further political implications to the unfolding controversy.
For her part, the former staffer said she decided to speak out after learning of similar claims from others.
“I’ve lived in fear every single day,” she said.
She emphasized that her decision was not politically driven but rooted in a desire to come forward.
“The only person who could ruin Eric Swalwell is Eric Swalwell,” she said.
As the situation develops, the case underscores the seriousness of the allegations while also highlighting the sharp dispute between accusers and the congressman, with both sides preparing for a potentially prolonged legal and political battle.
