Taylor Greene Accused Of Tipping Off Anti-Trump Group Before They Ambushed Him
Tensions between President Donald J. Trump and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene reportedly deteriorated so sharply last fall that the White House warned the U.S. Secret Service she may have tipped off left-wing activists about one of the president’s surprise public appearances, according to two individuals close to Trump.
The concerns stemmed from President Trump’s Sept. 9 dinner at Joe’s Seafood in Washington, D.C.—a restaurant Greene had recommended—where anti-war protesters affiliated with Code Pink aggressively confronted the president. The incident rattled senior aides and triggered heightened internal concern over Trump’s personal security.
White House officials now view that evening as the inflection point in Trump’s relationship with Greene, who was once a vocal ally but has since broken with the president and formally exited Congress this week.
Greene has forcefully denied any allegation that she leaked Trump’s whereabouts to protesters. Any suggestion she did so, she told Axios, was “an absolute lie, a dangerous lie. I would never do that.” She acknowledged recommending the restaurant but insisted she had no knowledge Trump would be dining there.
She further argued that responsibility lay elsewhere, stating: “The story you should be writing is why didn’t the Secret Service sweep the restaurant,” and ensure metal detectors were present at the entrance.
It remains unclear whether Greene is under any formal investigation. The Secret Service declined to comment, and Greene did not respond to questions about whether agents had contacted her.
The dinner at Joe’s—attended by Vice President JD Vance and multiple Cabinet officials—was intended to underscore what the White House described as improved public safety following the deployment of National Guard troops in the capital. Despite the outing being unannounced to the press, Code Pink activists managed to position themselves within feet of the president’s table.
Video from the incident captured demonstrators shouting, “Free DC! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!”
The breach prompted immediate internal reviews as White House officials sought to determine how the protesters became aware of the president’s location. Trump later called for a criminal investigation into Code Pink, saying, “They should be put in jail.”
His team subsequently met with senior Secret Service officials to reassess security protocols and review the failures surrounding the incident.
Code Pink spokeswoman Melissa Garriga dismissed the idea that Greene played any role in alerting the group. “That absolutely did not happen, to the point it is comical,” Garriga said.
While White House officials acknowledged they lacked direct proof, they cited two developments that heightened their suspicions.
First, Greene’s involvement in recommending the restaurant raised concerns after aides said she repeatedly contacted White House staff on the day of the dinner to confirm whether Trump planned to attend. According to sources, after learning of the calls, Trump personally phoned Greene shortly before departing the White House to confirm the visit.
Despite being a frequent patron of the restaurant, Greene did not appear during Trump’s visit—an absence aides described as unusual and troubling.
Second, officials pointed to Greene’s documented relationship with Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin. The two share opposition to U.S. military aid to Ukraine and Israel, and Benjamin has publicly praised Greene for opposing Trump’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and for advocating cuts to Pentagon foreign aid. Benjamin and other Code Pink members also visited Greene after she announced her resignation from Congress in November.
“I have enjoyed a friendship with Medea for a few years now, even though politics says that’s not allowed,” Greene said at the time.

As President Trump continues his second-term push to reassert law, order, and American strength at home and abroad, the episode highlights growing concerns within the White House over political alliances that blur the line between principled dissent and associations with radical activist groups that openly target the president.
