That's Our President: Trump Found a Way to Pay Troops Amid Schumer Shutdown
President Donald J. Trump announced Saturday that his administration will ensure U.S. service members receive their October 15 paychecks, even as the Democrat-led government shutdown continues to drag on without resolution.
In a decisive move that underscores his commitment to America’s military, President Trump said his administration has identified funding to cover the 1.3 million active-duty troops who were at risk of missing their next paycheck due to Congress’s failure to pass a spending bill.
“If nothing is done, because of ‘Leader’ Chuck Schumer and the Democrats, our Brave Troops will miss the paychecks they are rightfully due on October 15th,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “That is why I am using my authority, as Commander in Chief, to direct our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to use all available funds to do this.”
The directive tasks Secretary of War Pete Hegseth with ensuring that every service member is paid on time, despite the lapse in government funding.

The move comes amid growing frustration over Senate Democrats’ refusal to reopen the government, as they continue to block a bipartisan spending bill that would restore federal operations without the $1.5 trillion in new left-wing spending they’ve demanded.
Meanwhile, military charities across the country had been preparing for a surge in emergency requests from struggling troops and their families. The Air Force’s official charity alone reported collecting “several million in potential funds” to provide relief, anticipating that service members would miss their mid-October paychecks.
President Trump’s latest action follows his earlier decision to use tariff revenue to keep the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) funded during the shutdown—ensuring that vulnerable families continue to receive assistance despite congressional gridlock.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The president’s directive to protect both America’s troops and working families reflects his administration’s broader message throughout the standoff: that Democrats are using the shutdown to pursue partisan leverage, while the White House is focused on real-world results for ordinary Americans.
