Top Joint Chiefs Adviser Removed Over Anti-Israel Social Media Posts
An adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff has been removed from his post after publicly spewing anti-Israel rhetoric and conspiracy-laden claims—while simultaneously serving in a senior national security role focused on Israel and the Middle East.
U.S. Army Col. Nathan McCormack, who had been serving as branch chief for Levant and Egypt affairs within the J5 strategic planning directorate, was ousted this week after a slew of hostile posts targeting America’s strongest Middle Eastern ally surfaced on his X account, according to the Jewish News Syndicate.
Among McCormack’s now-deleted comments: referring to Israel as a “death cult”, calling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government “Judeo-supremacist cronies,” and suggesting that the U.S. may be nothing more than a “proxy of Israel.”

View PlansThat’s right — a senior Pentagon planner for Israel-related policy spent months pushing radical talking points that sound like they came straight from Hamas’s propaganda department.
The posts — made under the pseudonymous X account “Nate” — drew widespread scrutiny after McCormack bragged about his Meritorious Service Medal and openly referenced his work with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Despite occupying a sensitive national security role, he used the platform to question U.S. foreign policy, delegitimize the U.S.-Israel alliance, and cast doubt on Israel’s military actions following Hamas’s barbaric October 7 massacre.
“Netanyahu and his Judeo-supremacist cronies are determined to prolong the conflict… to remain in power or to annex the land,” McCormack posted in May.
Even more disturbing, McCormack hinted that U.S. military officials warned Israel against escalating its conflict with Lebanon, writing in August 2024, “we told them they’d be fuxked.” That comment appears to contradict America’s public support for Israel’s self-defense against Iranian-backed Hezbollah.
Despite being entrusted with high-level briefings and coordinating military engagement strategy with Israel, McCormack used his role as a megaphone for fringe anti-Israel sentiment, painting the Jewish state as a reckless aggressor and accusing the U.S. of enabling war crimes — a narrative beloved by the international left and enemies of the West.
“Israel’s responses always (always—not hyperbole) disproportionately target Palestinian civilians,” McCormack claimed.
He even suggested the U.S. gets “literally nothing” from the alliance, writing, “We get nothing out of the ‘partnership’ other than the enmity of millions of people in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.”
That kind of worldview isn’t just wrong — it’s dangerous, especially when it comes from someone with direct influence over military policy.
After the posts came to light, McCormack deleted his account, but the damage was already done. A Joint Staff official confirmed to The Daily Wire that McCormack has been removed from his role and referred to the Army for further review. The official emphasized his views “do not represent the views of the Joint Staff or the Department of Defense.”
“Our global alliances and partnerships are vital to our national security,” the statement read, indirectly rebuking McCormack’s position.

View PlansThe J5 directorate is responsible for shaping U.S. military strategy, preparing top brass for international engagements, and reinforcing critical alliances — including the one with Israel. That someone in such a role could harbor such open hostility toward one of America’s key partners raises serious questions about the Pentagon’s vetting process and internal discipline.
McCormack’s behavior is not just unprofessional — it’s an outright betrayal of the values, mission, and trust placed in U.S. military leaders.
