‘TREASON!’: Trump Delivers Explosive Remarks at NRCC Dinner
Former President Donald Trump didn’t hold back during his speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) dinner on Tuesday, branding those who oppose his agenda as “traitors” and accusing them of “treason.”
Trump asserted that the Democratic Party isn’t concerned about the failure of his America First agenda—instead, he claimed, they’re “terrified” it might succeed.
“Our opponents are not afraid that our America First policies will fail, they’re terrified that our strategy will succeed and we’re going to get bigger and stronger and better as a party, and that’s what’s happening — and that is what’s happening,” Trump said. “It’s going to be something, and I’m actually looking forward to the mid-terms. We’re going to prove that all of their treasonous years of betrayal will not be forgotten — cause it’s treason, what they did is treason. When they allowed millions of people to pour in through open borders — from all over the world they came, to me that’s treason. What they’ve done to our country is unthinkable.”
He also criticized the current immigration enforcement policies, suggesting that while taxpayer dollars are being spent to remove dangerous individuals, some judges are enabling members of the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang to stay in the country. Trump contrasted this with his own stance, highlighting his alignment with the middle class.
“I’m proud to be the President for the workers, not the outsourcers; the President who stands up for Main Street, not Wall Street; who protects the middle class, not the political class; and who defends America, not trade cheaters all over the globe,” he said.
Trump went further, blaming international trade partners for economic harm.
“They’re trade cheaters, they cheated on us, they cheated with tariffs on us,” he continued. “They stole our money, they stole our jobs, and now people are going around saying, ‘Oh, we’re not treating them right.’ No, we’re treating them very good, actually. They’re lucky we’re treating them so good.”
Trump’s fiery speech came amid a notable boost in his approval ratings, despite backlash from both Democrats and some Republican figures over recent aggressive trade measures.
A poll conducted by J.L. Partners in collaboration with the Daily Mail found that Trump’s approval rating rose to 53 percent following the introduction of sweeping tariffs on April 2. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters from March 31 to April 3, showed a four-point increase from the previous week’s 49 percent.
Despite recent turmoil in the stock market, the Daily Mail described the polling results as “surprising.” Among young voters aged 18 to 29, Trump’s favorability jumped by an impressive 13 points since March 7.
The data suggests Trump continues to gain traction among this younger demographic, which had swung toward him in the last election after backing Joe Biden heavily in 2020. The study also reported a six-point increase in support among Democrats and independents, and a 17-point jump in favorability among Black voters.
As Trump nears the 100-day mark of his presidency, business leaders and employers are expressing growing confidence in the economy, even if major gains haven’t materialized yet.
“I would give President Trump, right now, a pretty solid B+,” said TaChelle Lawson, founder of FIG Strategy & Consulting and a respondent to the Freedom Economy Index (FEI), in an interview with Fox News Digital.
“He came in with a very clear plan, and that was focusing on economics. He’s definitely putting business first, trimming the fat. That’s something that small business owners, business operators understand and respect. I think that it’s clear that his focus is on American business,” Lawson noted. “I do, however, think that the messaging could use a little bit of work.”
