Trump Announces Massive U.S. Bombing Raid Against Iranian Targets

President Donald J. Trump announced Friday evening that the United States military carried out a massive airstrike against Iranian military infrastructure, describing the operation as one of the most powerful bombing raids ever conducted in the Middle East.

The strikes targeted military facilities on Kharg Island, a strategically significant location long considered one of Iran’s most important energy and military hubs.

Trump revealed the operation in a post on Truth Social, stating that the mission was executed by United States Central Command.

“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island.”

Strategic Restraint on Oil Infrastructure

Despite the scale of the attack, Trump emphasized that U.S. forces deliberately avoided destroying the island’s oil facilities, framing the decision as a calculated act of restraint.

“Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island.”

Kharg Island plays a critical role in Iran’s oil export network, making it one of the most economically sensitive targets in the region.

Warning Over the Strait of Hormuz

The president also issued a stern warning regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most vital maritime passages for global energy supplies.

“However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision,” Trump said.

The waterway handles a large share of the world’s oil shipments, making it a focal point in any potential escalation between Washington and Tehran.

Trump Credits Military Rebuild

Trump credited the success of the operation to the strength of the U.S. armed forces, which he said were rebuilt during his first administration and strengthened further during his current term.

“During my First Term, and currently, I rebuilt our Military into the Most Lethal, Powerful, and Effective Force, by far, anywhere in the World,” he said.

He also claimed that Iran lacks the capability to effectively defend against U.S. military strikes.

“Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it!” Trump wrote.

The president reiterated a core principle of his foreign policy: preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

“Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the World,” Trump said.

He also warned Iranian military forces to stand down.

“Iran’s Military, and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime, would be wise to lay down their arms, and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much!”

“Those Plans Are Now Dead”

In a follow-up message, Trump argued that the strike had crippled Iran’s broader regional ambitions.

“Iran had plans of taking over the entire Middle East, and completely obliterating Israel. JUST LIKE IRAN ITSELF, THOSE PLANS ARE NOW DEAD!”

Later Friday, the president released declassified footage showing large explosions striking targets across Kharg Island.

Speaking briefly with reporters at Joint Base Andrews before departing for Palm Beach, Trump said the broader military campaign was progressing successfully.

“The situation in Iran is going very well. A lot of big hits today… We’re in very good control,” he said.

Additional Military Incidents Reported

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that five U.S. Air Force refueling aircraft were damaged during an Iranian drone attack in Saudi Arabia. The extent of the damage has not yet been publicly detailed.

Separately, a KC-135 Stratotanker crashed in western Iraq on Thursday, killing all six crew members aboard the aircraft.
