Trump Brokers Ceasefire Between Israel And Iran, Demands Bombing Stops

In a major foreign policy victory, President Donald J. Trump announced Monday night that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire—one brokered directly by the Trump administration with help from regional allies, ending nearly two weeks of intense military conflict.

“I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It is going to go forever,” President Trump said in a phone interview with NBC News. Asked whether the war was over for good, Trump didn’t hesitate: “Yes. I do not believe they will ever be shooting at each other again.”

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, revealing that the ceasefire deal would roll out in phases over the following 24 hours. The agreement is being hailed by insiders as a breakthrough that only a strong, results-driven leader like Trump could deliver.

A senior White House official confirmed that President Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “No more war, no more fighting. The Iranians have been significantly weakened.”

Working alongside Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump engaged in high-stakes diplomacy coordinated with top Qatari leaders. According to the official, Qatar’s emir and prime minister were instrumental in conveying the U.S. message to Iranian officials, urging them to accept the terms of the ceasefire.

Trump reportedly offered a phased ceasefire proposal designed to ease Israeli skepticism: Iran would cease firing first for 12 hours, followed by Israel doing the same. The move gave Israel the strategic high ground and placed the burden of trust on Tehran.

NBC News confirmed that President Trump personally contacted Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to ask for help convincing Iran to stand down. Qatar’s prime minister then reached out directly to the Iranian regime, according to sources familiar with the outreach.

Netanyahu’s office confirmed early Tuesday that Israel would participate in the agreement, just as Iranian state media attempted to spin the truce as one imposed by Tehran. Iranian state TV admitted the Islamic Republic launched its final round of missile strikes as the ceasefire took hold—further evidence of bad-faith brinkmanship from the regime.

Iran’s Press TV posted on X: “Ceasefire begins following four waves of Iranian attacks on Israeli-occupied territories.”

According to Iranian officials, Israeli strikes killed at least 400 Iranians and injured 3,000. Iran’s retaliatory attacks killed at least 24 people in Israel.

“A lot of people were dying, and it was only going to get worse,” Trump told NBC.

Over the weekend, the United States launched a powerful retaliatory strike on Iran, targeting three nuclear facilities using more than 125 military aircraft. That strike came after Tehran ignored Trump’s warning that retaliation would trigger devastating consequences.

Iran’s response—a weak missile attack on a U.S. base in Qatar—was brushed off by the administration. No casualties were reported, and Trump called it a “weak response” in a Truth Social post, writing that Iran could now “proceed to Peace” and that he would “enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same.”

After confirming the ceasefire deal, Trump proposed a name for the conflict: “THE 12 DAY WAR.” According to senior officials, the name came directly from the president, who views the rapid conclusion of hostilities as a defining moment of strength and diplomacy.

Meanwhile, intelligence leaks suggest Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is nearing the end of his rule. Two top Iranian officials told The Atlantic that Khamenei is rapidly losing influence and may not survive politically—or even physically—much longer.

“Everybody knows Khamenei’s days are numbered,” one official said. “Even if he stays in office, he won’t have actual power.”

As the Trump administration continues to project strength on the world stage, this ceasefire serves as a powerful reminder: when America leads with resolve, peace follows through power.
