Trump Commends Elon Musk, Urges Him To ‘Get More Aggressive’

Just a month into his presidency, Donald Trump is ramping up his efforts, swiftly taking action to challenge progressives in Washington.

On Saturday, Trump took to social media to commend billionaire Elon Musk for his role in uncovering government wasteful spending. Musk has quickly become the leading adversary of Democrats.

Following his praise, Trump encouraged Musk to push even further.

“ELON IS DOING A GREAT JOB, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM GET MORE AGGRESSIVE,” Trump posted on Truth Social, emphasizing his words in all caps. “REMEMBER, WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO SAVE, BUT ULTIMATELY, TO MAKE GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. MAGA!”

This was already troubling for liberals, but Musk’s response made it even more so.

“Will do, Mr. President!” Musk replied on X.

Trump has been relentlessly challenging progressive policies across various sectors, including energy, foreign relations, and illegal immigration. Meanwhile, Musk has been instrumental in scrutinizing and eliminating inefficiencies in government operations.

A recent move by Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency led to an exposé of excessive expenditures at the U.S. Agency for International Development, triggering widespread controversy. His initiatives have also disrupted traditionally left-leaning institutions, such as the Department of Education.

Currently, Musk is focusing on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, describing it as the potential “motherlode” of “big money fraud.”

Progressives are in turmoil over these developments, and now Trump is urging Musk to intensify his efforts.

Following a legal victory on Tuesday, Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency have been granted access to financial data from several additional federal agencies. At the same time, a DOGE team member is set to receive crucial IRS data.

“The I.R.S. is preparing to give Gavin Kliger, a young software engineer working with [DOGE], access to sensitive taxpayer information as a senior adviser to the I.R.S.’s acting commissioner. The I.R.S. is still working out the terms of his assignment,” The New York Times reported.

Critics argue that such unprecedented access could grant Musk and his team an unparalleled level of oversight. Lily Batchelder, a former Treasury Department official under Biden, stated on X that she could not recall any political appointee ever being granted access to the IRS database, The Times noted.

There are mounting concerns that such access could be leveraged to target political adversaries or disclose private taxpayer data. Batchelder cautioned that such actions might breach federal laws barring executive interference in IRS audits. Meanwhile, Democratic Senators Ron Wyden of Oregon and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts have called for further clarification regarding the extent of Musk’s access, according to The Times.

While Democrats and mainstream media continue to claim—without substantiating evidence—that Musk and his DOGE team will be “accessing sensitive taxpayer information” with potential risks of leaks, The Times did acknowledge that a leak had already occurred—against Musk. In 2021, an IRS employee disclosed Musk’s 2014-2018 tax returns, along with those of other wealthy individuals, to ProPublica.

President Trump, who appointed Musk to his role, remains firmly supportive of the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s mission.

“Waste, fraud and abuse have been deeply entrenched in our broken system for far too long,” White House spokesman Harrison Fields stated. “It takes direct access to the system to identify and fix it.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan dismissed an urgent motion filed by 14 Democratic state attorneys general seeking to impose broad limitations on Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Led by New Mexico, the coalition argued that Musk’s substantial role in DOGE was unconstitutional due to his lack of Senate confirmation. They sought to restrict DOGE’s access to seven federal agencies, The Hill reported.

Chutkan rejected their motion at this stage, ruling that they failed to provide sufficient proof of immediate and irreparable harm.

“Plaintiffs legitimately call into question what appears to be the unchecked authority of an unelected individual and an entity that was not created by Congress and over which it has no oversight,” Chutkan wrote.

“In these circumstances, it must be indisputable that this court acts within the bounds of its authority,” she continued. “Accordingly, it cannot issue a TRO [temporary restraining order], especially one as wide-ranging as Plaintiffs request, without clear evidence of imminent, irreparable harm to these Plaintiffs. The current record does not meet that standard.”

In a footnote, Chutkan indicated that the Justice Department may have overstated the extent of DOGE’s influence on personnel matters. “Defense counsel is reminded of their duty to make truthful representations to the court,” she cautioned.

Since Trump took office, Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has rapidly placed personnel across federal agencies to cut government expenditures by trillions—a bold initiative already facing legal pushback.

This swift transformation has placed Chutkan, an Obama appointee, in the middle of yet another high-profile legal clash involving Trump. Previously, she presided over the now-dismissed January 6 criminal case against the former president.
