Trump Demands Microsoft Fire Former Obama-Biden Official

President Donald J. Trump on Friday called on Microsoft to terminate Lisa Monaco, a former Biden Justice Department official now serving as the tech giant’s president of global affairs.

The statement, posted on Trump’s Truth Social account to more than 10 million followers, came one day after former FBI Director James Comey was indicted on charges of obstruction and false statements — a case Trump had long pressed for.

Trump described Monaco as “Corrupt and Totally Trump Deranged,” accusing her of being a “pawn of legal lightweight Andrew Weissmann” and linking her to the Russia probe, the Jan. 6 investigation, the Mar-a-Lago raid, and the federal documents case.

“Monaco has been shockingly hired as the President of Global Affairs for Microsoft, in a very senior role with access to Highly Sensitive Information,” Trump wrote. “Monaco’s having that kind of access is unacceptable, and cannot be allowed to stand. She is a menace to U.S. National Security, especially given the major contracts that Microsoft has with the United States Government. Because of Monaco’s many wrongful acts, the U.S. Government recently stripped her of all Security Clearances, took away all of her access to National Security Intelligence, and banned her from all Federal Properties. It is my opinion that Microsoft should immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco.”

Microsoft declined to comment, according to media reports.

Monaco, who also served as White House homeland security adviser under President Barack Obama, joined Microsoft in July. Her appointment resurfaced Friday after Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo highlighted her role, linking to a University of Chicago Law School article announcing her new position.

The timing of Trump’s demand comes as Microsoft faces increased scrutiny over its government ties. Earlier this month, the company touted $3.1 billion in projected savings for U.S. agencies using its cloud services. Yet just Thursday, Microsoft announced it would suspend certain AI and cloud services to a unit of the Israeli military following claims the technology was being used to monitor Palestinians.

Trump’s post also dovetails with his broader effort to strip security clearances from former Biden officials and political opponents. In February, he revoked clearances from at least eight figures, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Monaco herself, prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, attorney Mark Zaid, and lawyer Norm Eisen.

The latest demand underscores the president’s determination to hold accountable those he believes abused their offices in the Russia investigation and subsequent probes targeting him.
