Trump Family's Grand Arrival for Inauguration Weekend

An eventful weekend filled with pre-inauguration festivities kicked off Saturday evening as President-elect Donald Trump and his family officially arrived in Washington, D.C., in anticipation of Monday’s inauguration.
Before heading to the Trump Sterling Golf Club in Lowes, Island, Virginia, Trump, alongside his wife Melania and their youngest son Barron, touched down at Dulles International Airport. The reception, hosted by Trump, welcomed over 500 guests, including cabinet nominees Pete Hegseth, Lee Zeldin, and Kristi Noem.
Later in the evening, as enthusiastic supporters lined the nearby streets, the Trump family watched a fireworks display from the balcony of their residence.
Eric Trump shared his thoughts on X, expressing a “renewed hope and spirit for our country” as he embarked on the journey to the nation’s capital with his wife, former RNC co-chair Lara Trump, and their two young children.
Reflecting on the past decade, he wrote, “The past 10 years have been a constant fight — countless rallies, TV appearances, subpoenas, depositions, and weeks in cold courtrooms. Through endless attacks on my family, the company I run, and the employees I care for, we faced slander, fake news, home raids, and countless games designed to break us.”
He continued by sharing a personal moment, saying, “But now, as I board this beautiful plane en route to Washington D.C. with two beautiful children — so innocent to the harsh realities of the world — I know that every ounce of my fight has been for them and the future of their generation,” ultimately stating that “America won, against all odds.”
Trump's early arrival in the capital precedes a busy Sunday agenda leading up to his historic inauguration on Monday, which will take place in the Capitol Rotunda for the first time in four decades. The originally planned outdoor event was canceled due to predictions of frigid temperatures caused by arctic winds.
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Celebrations, responsible for planning the day’s events for the president-elect and vice president-elect, is chaired this year by Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). The day's agenda will begin with a ceremonial parade heading to the Capitol Building.
Vice President-elect J.D. Vance will take the oath before President-elect Trump delivers his inaugural address. After the ceremony, Trump will proceed to the signing event, where he will authorize several nominations, memorandums, proclamations, or executive orders.
On Sunday, Trump is set to hold a “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C., following a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. He will spend the night at the Blair House, located across the street from the White House, and is scheduled to have tea with President Biden on Monday before heading to the Capitol for the official proceedings.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to commence at noon Eastern Time.
