Trump Grants ICE Full Authority To Arrest Rioters Attacking Officers
President Donald J. Trump has granted sweeping new powers to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the wake of violent left-wing riots aimed at obstructing federal immigration operations across Democrat-controlled jurisdictions.
The announcement came Friday, just hours after the President returned from touring flood damage in Central Texas. Referencing a disturbing incident the previous day in Ventura, California—where a leftist mob ambushed federal agents during a raid on an illegal marijuana grow operation—Trump made it clear that the days of soft-handed law enforcement are over.
During the raid in Camarillo, ICE officers were reportedly attacked by rioters wielding rocks, bricks, and even firearms. One attacker allegedly opened fire on officers as their vehicles moved through the area. The agents, who had been conducting a lawful enforcement action, were forced to retreat under fire.
“I am on my way back from Texas, and watched in disbelief as THUGS were violently throwing rocks and bricks at ICE Officers while they were moving down a roadway in their car and/or official vehicle. Tremendous damage was done to these brand new vehicles,” the President posted on Truth Social. “I know for a fact that these Officers are having a hard time with allowing this to happen in that it shows such total disrespect for LAW AND ORDER.”
In response, President Trump directed border security chief Tom Homan and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to authorize all federal agents to defend themselves and restore order without hesitation.
Any federal officer under assault—be it with rocks, bricks, or firearms—is now fully empowered to stop their vehicle and arrest perpetrators on the spot, using “whatever means is necessary,” according to the new directive.
“I never want to see a car carrying a Law Enforcement Officer attacked again! AUTHORIZATION IMMEDIATELY GRANTED FOR ARREST AND INCARCERATION. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump declared.
The bold move is being praised by law enforcement advocates and constitutional conservatives, who have long warned that the radical left’s defiance of immigration law is emboldening criminal elements and putting federal officers’ lives at risk.
Meanwhile, far-left California officials continue to undermine the rule of law.
Just hours after the ICE riot, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a shocking new policy: cash handouts to illegal aliens caught up in enforcement operations. At a press conference, Bass admitted the city will use “philanthropic partners” to distribute cards worth “a couple hundred dollars” to foreign nationals evading deportation.
“There is a need for me to have an executive directive to help our city understand how to protect itself from our federal government,” Bass said, framing immigration law as a threat to the city.
She went on to instruct city workers to develop plans that help shield illegal aliens from federal authorities, in open defiance of U.S. law.
This is just the latest example of Democrat officials actively sabotaging immigration enforcement, even as criminal cartels flood American cities with fentanyl, illegal labor, and violence.
President Trump’s swift action sends a clear message: federal officers will not be left defenseless—and law and order will be restored.
