Trump Orders DOJ Investigation Into Democratic Connections to Epstein

President Donald J. Trump on Friday directed the Justice Department to launch sweeping criminal investigations into several prominent Democrats connected to Jeffrey Epstein, signaling the administration’s most aggressive move yet in uncovering what he described as a decades-long political cover-up.

In a detailed social-media post, Trump blasted Democrats for “using the Epstein Hoax” to score political points during the shutdown standoff and said federal investigators would now examine the deep, well-documented ties between Epstein and numerous left-leaning powerbrokers — including former President Bill Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and billionaire LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman.

“This is another Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats,” Trump wrote.

He continued, “Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his ‘Island.’ Stay tuned!!!”

The President said he had ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi and federal law enforcement — “together with our great patriots at the FBI” — to conduct a full investigation into the “involvement and relationship” between Epstein and senior Democratic figures.

Within hours, Bondi announced she had already appointed a top prosecutor to lead the effort.

“Thank you, Mr. President. SDNY U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton is one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country, and I’ve asked him to take the lead,” she wrote on X.

“As with all matters, the Department will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people,” Bondi added.

Trump also instructed investigators to examine “J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions” with links to Epstein’s financial and trafficking network — a sign the administration intends to scrutinize both political and corporate players long shielded from public transparency.

The President's announcement came just as House Democrats released a fresh batch of unverified Epstein emails earlier in the week, claiming — without proof — that Trump’s awareness of Epstein’s crimes was greater than previously disclosed.

One email Democrats published on Wednesday included Epstein’s claim that Trump had “spent hours at my house” with a victim and “knew about the girls.”
Another message read, “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.”

Republicans immediately countered by releasing their own collection of messages from Epstein’s estate, some of which referenced Trump as well, escalating the political clash and intensifying demands for the full public release of government-held Epstein files — something Trump has repeatedly supported.

The renewed disclosures have revived long-standing questions about Epstein’s deep political ties, particularly his famous associations with Clinton, Summers, Hoffman, and numerous Wall Street and Silicon Valley figures.

The White House has firmly rejected the Democrats’ accusations, reiterating that Trump ended his association with Epstein nearly two decades ago.

“These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday.

She added, “And what President Trump has always said is that he was from Palm Beach and so was Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey Epstein was a member at Mar-a-Lago until President Trump kicked him out because Jeffrey Epstein was a pedophile and he was a creep.”

Meanwhile, congressional leadership is preparing to make the long-sought Epstein files public. With the shutdown resolved and bipartisan support secured, House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed that he will bring a bill requiring full DOJ disclosure to the floor in the coming days.

“We’re going to put that on the floor for a full vote when we get back next week,” Johnson said, noting that the House Oversight Committee has “been working around the clock” on its own probe of Epstein, Newsweek reported.

The vote is expected to be one of the most consequential transparency measures undertaken in years, with both parties now trading allegations — though only Democrats face decades of documented proximity to Epstein’s world.
