Trump Orders Troops To ‘War-Ravaged’ Portland to Protect Federal Property

President Donald J. Trump has authorized the deployment of “all necessary” troops to Portland, Oregon, after weeks of escalating violence targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities and personnel.

“At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” President Trump announced on Truth Social. “I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary.”

The move follows repeated assaults on ICE agents and facilities in Portland, which the Department of Homeland Security has described as a focal point for Antifa activity. DHS reports detail a pattern of violence: lasers aimed at officers’ eyes, smoke grenades launched at federal personnel, and attempts to damage federal equipment, according to the New York Post.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, who earlier this week ramped up federal prosecution efforts, vowed that her Justice Department will pursue the “most serious available charges” against anyone attacking ICE officers. “If you so much as touch one of our federal officers, you will go to prison,” Bondi warned in a video statement. She added: “The rule of law will prevail.”

White House Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller praised the crackdown, describing the situation bluntly: “We are witnessing domestic terrorist sedition against the federal government. All necessary resources will be utilized.”

The violence has escalated in recent days. On Friday, a federal grand jury indicted three women who allegedly stalked an ICE officer, followed him home, and livestreamed his address on Instagram. Just two days earlier, a suspected sniper opened fire on an ICE facility in Texas, wounding at least three migrants. Authorities later recovered a bullet marked “anti ICE.”

The White House has already dispatched National Guard units to Washington, D.C., and Memphis in response to unrest and previously deployed troops to Los Angeles earlier this year amid riots.

Bondi made clear the administration will pursue a zero-tolerance policy for political violence: “I have witnessed the continued onslaught of violence perpetrated against ICE officers across our country. The Department of Justice will not stand idly by in the face of such lawlessness.”

For President Trump, the mission is clear: defend federal officers and restore order in cities where Antifa extremists and other violent agitators have sought to undermine U.S. sovereignty.
