Trump Posts Schumer’s Office Phone Online, Rips Dems Over SNAP Loss

President Donald J. Trump, now serving his second term, reiterated Friday night that his administration is constrained by federal law in how it can distribute food assistance during the ongoing government shutdown — a statement critics on the Left immediately tried to frame as political posturing.

With Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds set to run dry on Saturday, President Trump used his Truth Social account to call out Senate Democrats for repeatedly blocking efforts to reopen the government. He even published Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s office phone number, urging citizens to demand action.

In his post, Trump explained that administration attorneys concluded that federal agencies currently cannot legally issue SNAP payments while the shutdown continues.

“I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT,”
Trump wrote, highlighting how Senate Democrats have now blocked a clean funding bill 14 times.

While Republicans maintain control of both the House and Senate, Democrats have used the filibuster to halt governing operations. Only a small number of Democrats have crossed party leadership to join all 53 Republican senators in voting to restore funding.

The President further clarified that the interruption in SNAP benefits stems from procedural and timing constraints at the state level. But he made clear he stands ready to take immediate action as soon as legally permitted:

“It will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay.”

Trump also encouraged Americans to directly pressure Senate Democrats, saying they should call the office of “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer” and demand an end to the blockade.

However, late Friday night, two federal judges ordered the administration to continue providing SNAP benefits using contingency funds — just hours before the U.S. Department of Agriculture was set to halt payments. The move temporarily avoids disruption, though Trump noted the timeline for states to reload benefit cards may still take one to two weeks.

“Even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while States get the money out,”
Trump wrote in another Truth Social post.

Meanwhile, Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) told Fox News host Kellyanne Conway that Democrats are already searching for a political “exit ramp” after realizing the shutdown is hurting them with voters heading into key state elections.

Mullin predicted the government could reopen midweek — but only after Democrats attempt to save face following Tuesday’s gubernatorial and mayoral races.

“Where they went through the rally they realize that their base was only more dog in so now. What the Democrats are literally tell us telling us this. They plan on shut, open it back out, probably Wednesday or Thursday after the after the the election…”
Mullin said, pointing to panic within the Democratic caucus.

He noted even left-wing institutions are acknowledging the political fallout:

“Even CNN’s polls are showing that the that this isn’t good for them.”

Democrats, Mullin argued, know they are losing the public, and their own members have admitted the shutdown is being used as a “leverage point.”

“They’re gonna, eventually open it up, probably Thursday, I’d say midday,”
Mullin concluded.

The political stakes are clear: Democrats are prolonging pain for American families in a bid to retain negotiating power — while President Trump continues to press for an immediate reopening of the government and restoration of essential services.
