Trump Press Sec Teases ‘Big’ Announcement First Day Back In White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt teased a “significant infrastructure announcement” from President Donald Trump.
Appearing on Fox & Friends Tuesday, Leavitt stated, “President Trump will be speaking to the press later this afternoon at the White House, and we will have a big infrastructure announcement.”
She continued, “This man is already accomplishing more in one day than his predecessor did in four years. Yesterday was a historic day for President Trump; he signed memorandums and proclamations, took over 200 executive actions, gave three speeches, and attended three balls into the early morning hours. And he’s already back to work again.”
Leavitt emphasized the success of Trump’s early actions, adding, “The American people now have a leader who is delivering on his promises. President Trump sent shock and awe yesterday with his actions to secure the southern border, release energy, and bring jobs back home. The American people have a strong leader in President Trump, there is no doubt about that.”
Though cautious about revealing too much, Leavitt hinted that the “massive” announcement will “prove that the world knows America is back.”
“Foreign leaders and investors, from Silicon Valley to Wall Street to Main Street, have confidence in our economy and markets again because they know that President Trump has promised to reduce taxes, regulation, energy costs, and to make America the envy of the world,” she said. “He’s going to bring investments from all across the country into our country, and the American people will hear from him this afternoon on that very subject.”
Leavitt also criticized former President Joe Biden for “coincidentally” pardoning his entire family during Trump’s speech, which delayed Trump’s response until Biden was out of office.
“I think it is a disgrace Joe Biden did this on his way out the door,” she stated. “It is an admission of guilt. For years, Joe Biden said he and his family did not commit crimes, but yesterday’s pardons show he knew they were guilty and wanted to protect them in his last hour as president. We are now focused on the future, and President Trump looks forward to restoring our Justice Department, law and order, and ending the weaponization of justice against him and his supporters under the Biden-Harris administration.”
This came just hours after the Senate passed a major immigration bill late on Monday night.
President Trump is now closer to signing the immigration-related Laken Riley Act into law after the GOP-controlled U.S. Senate passed it, marking the first piece of legislation to pass the new Congress.
The bill was passed by a 64-35 vote, with every Republican and 12 Democrats voting in favor.
With immigration becoming a central issue for Trump and a key tool to challenge Democrats, Republicans prioritized the legislation, which mandates the federal detention of undocumented immigrants accused of theft and burglary, among other offenses.
“This legislation will ensure that illegal aliens who steal or assault a law enforcement officer are detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement instead of being allowed out on the streets,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) stated ahead of the vote. “I’m looking forward to getting this legislation to the president’s desk.”
Democrats who voted in favor of the bill included Senators John Fetterman (Pa.), Ruben Gallego (Ariz.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Raphael Warnock (Ga.), Gary Peters (Mich.), Jacky Rosen (Nev.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Elissa Slotkin (Mich.), and Mark Warner (Va.).
