Trump Puts End To Biden-Era ‘Quiet Amnesty’ For Illegals
President Donald J. Trump’s Department of Homeland Security is dismantling former President Joe Biden’s controversial “quiet amnesty” program, moving to reopen deportation cases for hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants that Biden’s administration had previously shelved.
Under Biden, immigration courts were instructed to dismiss or administratively close cases instead of holding asylum hearings—hearings that overwhelmingly end in denial for unqualified applicants. Democrats, led at the time by then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, turned a blind eye to Biden’s open defiance of immigration law.
Now, DHS is reversing course. According to the Los Angeles Times, deportation cases that Biden allowed to languish are being reactivated.

“Now, President Trump and Secretary Noem are following the law and resuming these illegal aliens’ removal proceedings and ensuring their cases are heard by a judge,” she added.
A 2023 report by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement—chaired by Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA)—laid bare the scope of Biden’s administrative case closures.
“The Biden-Harris Administration has used the immigration court backlog as an excuse to allow even more aliens to remain in the country,” the report stated.
It found that rather than evaluate claims on merit—such as legitimate asylum petitions—Biden-era immigration judges “rubberstamped” dismissals, closures, and terminations that effectively granted illegal migrants indefinite residency without legal status or consequence.
The report concluded: “Under the Biden-Harris Administration, more than 700,000 illegal aliens have had their cases dismissed, terminated, or administratively closed, allowing those aliens to stay in the country indefinitely without facing immigration consequences.”
The enforcement push comes as a separate controversy engulfs Arizona Democrat state Senator Analise Ortiz, who admitted to warning residents about active ICE operations.
McLaughlin blasted Ortiz’s actions, saying the lawmaker was siding with “illegal criminals over American citizens.”
“Arizona state Senator Analise Ortiz is siding with vicious cartels, human traffickers, and violent criminals over American citizens,” she told Fox News. “Notifying the public about ICE law enforcement operations endangers law enforcement and weakens American national security.”
When asked whether Ortiz could face charges, McLaughlin responded, “This certainly looks like obstruction of justice.”

View PlansShe also revealed a staggering surge in attacks against ICE officers. “The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent criminal illegal aliens to protect and defend the lives of American citizens,” McLaughlin said. “Make no mistake, sanctuary politicians like Arizona Senator Analise Ortiz are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”
The incident drew fire from the popular conservative account “Libs of TikTok,” which accused Ortiz of “actively impeding and doxxing ICE” by posting real-time locations of federal agents on social media in both English and Spanish. The account called on Border Czar Tom Homan, DHS, and ICE to take immediate legal action.
