Trump Received Surprise Phone Call After Rally Attack
After the attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump received an unexpected phone call from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
During an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Trump recounted this conversation, revealing Zuckerberg's surprising remarks.
“Then they said that the picture wasn’t altered. First they said it was altered, then they said, no, it was a bug, it was a mistake. But my point is that these companies would not allow any information out about what happened,” Bartiromo mentioned.
“So, Mark Zuckerberg calls me. First of all, he called me a few times. He called me after the event and said, ‘That was really amazing, it was really brave,’ and, you know, he actually announced he’s not going to support a Democrat because he can’t, because he respected me for what I did that day,” Trump shared.
“I think what I did maybe was, to me, a normal response, but I was called by Mark Zuckerberg yesterday, the day before, on this same subject, and he actually apologized, he said they made a mistake, et cetera, et cetera, correcting the mistake. Google, nobody called from Google,” Trump continued.
Trump also discussed the broader media landscape and the influence of platforms like Facebook and Google. “One of the things, doing a show like yours, your show, you know, you see it on FOX, but what you really see it is all over the place. They take clips of your show, of what you’re doing right now with me, and if I do a good job, they are going to vote for me. They are going to vote for me because it’s not just on FOX, it’s on — FOX is a smaller part of it own. You’re all over those little beautiful cell phones, you’re all over the place. You have a product. You have a great product. You have a great brand. So you have to get out. You have to get out, you have to do things like your show and other shows,” he said.
Trump criticized Google's actions, suggesting that Congress might take action against the company. “And Google has been very bad. They’ve been very irresponsible. And I have a feeling that Google is going to be close to shut down because I don’t think Congress is going to take it. I really don’t think so. Google has to be careful. Now, I will say this. I believe Mark Zuckerberg, he called me a lot. I think they fixed it and he’s not doing what he did four years ago with $500 million, I don’t believe,” he stated.
The hosts of “Fox & Friends” later discussed Trump's remarks and Zuckerberg's actions.
“Yeah, META said that, apparently, it was a hallucination. I thought that was a funny issue. Which happens with AI. Everybody thinks AI is so brilliant. Apparently, it hallucinates! It’s a little fuzzy sometimes,” co-host Steve Doocy remarked.
“Look, I heard Mark Zuckerberg come out and praise President Trump. Look, maybe this one was a mistake, but these algorithms are run by people. These algorithms are created by people, programmed by people. When you look at this and when you think that it took 14 days, their response was, ‘We’re updating things.’ It doesn’t take two weeks to update that there was an assassination attempt on former President Trump. That’s a long time,” Kayleigh McEnany said.
“Kayleigh, I understand your skepticism. You were right there in 2020. But Zuckerbucks did a lot to tilt the election towards Biden,” a skeptical Brian Kilmeade added.
“Of course. Absolutely,” McEnany agreed.
“For every $1,000 he gave a Republican, he gave $100,000 to Democrats. I get it. I was also listening to Zuckerberg when he was on with Joe Rogan, and he basically said, I got a call the FBI saying, You got to take this down. And he was intimidated, and he did it, and he regretted it,” Kilmeade said.
“I think he sees it happening again. I know it could be a business decision, but I’m going to look on the brighter side. I think that he’s embarrassed about what happened in 2020. And I think that right now, he’s like, The last… I think that I would look at that call as sincere. And Trump’s a pretty good BS detector. If he thought he was being played, he would have said it,” he concluded.
