Trump Redirects Migrant Funds to Launch National Center for Homeless Veterans

In a powerful move underscoring his commitment to America's forgotten warriors, President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order to establish a National Center for Warrior Independence, repurposing funds previously earmarked for illegal immigrant programs. The new facility will be located on the Department of Veterans Affairs campus in West Los Angeles.

As reported by Fox News Digital, the order mandates that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs initiate the center’s development, focusing on restoring dignity, care, and self-sufficiency to veterans who have been left behind—many of whom live on the streets.

Los Angeles, home to an estimated 3,000 homeless veterans—nearly 10% of the total across the country—was selected as the site for the center due to its alarming concentration of veteran homelessness.

“The new National Center for Warrior Independence will help them and other veterans like them rebuild their lives,” the White House stated. The facility will be open to veterans nationwide, offering access to care, benefits, and critical services “to which they are entitled.”

The executive order directly reallocates taxpayer funds—previously funneled toward housing and services for illegal immigrants—toward building and maintaining this veterans-focused facility. “The Center will promote self-sufficiency through housing, substance abuse treatment, and support for productive work for the veterans housed there,” the White House added.

President Trump has set a goal of housing up to 6,000 homeless veterans at the new center by 2028, the final year of his current term.

The directive also calls on the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to provide voucher support for homeless veterans, while instructing the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to reintroduce accountability measures at the VA—reversing the culture of leniency reinstated during the Biden administration.

As part of this accountability overhaul, the VA will be required to investigate the prior administration’s controversial decision to rehire individuals previously terminated for misconduct and to restore back pay to those same employees.

In addition to its veteran housing initiative, the order expands access to medical services. It calls for reduced wait times for Veterans Health Administration appointments by extending operating hours, expanding virtual care, and offering weekend services. A feasibility study will also be conducted to determine if the Manchester VA Medical Center in New Hampshire should be upgraded to a full-service facility.

“President Trump strongly believes that every veteran deserves our gratitude, and that the federal government should treat veterans like the heroes they are,” the White House emphasized.

This bold initiative follows last week’s announcement that President Trump will host a military parade on June 14, in honor of both the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and the men and women in uniform—past and present—who have served the nation.

While establishment media continue to sound alarms over President Trump’s unapologetically America-first agenda, the numbers tell a different story. Despite relentless opposition from the Beltway class and globalist institutions, the Trump administration is beginning to tame the federal debt.

Since President Trump’s second inauguration in January, public debt has risen far more slowly than under former President Joe Biden’s final year in office. According to a Washington Examiner analysis, the debt held by the public increased by just $37 billion between January 22 and May 6. During that same period in 2024, under Biden, it ballooned by over $478 billion.

That marks a 92% decrease in the pace of debt accumulation, bolstering Trump’s pledge to eliminate waste and restore fiscal discipline through his Department of Government Efficiency.

Though the actual reduction—around $5.5 billion—may appear modest in the context of a $26.2 trillion national debt, the shift in trajectory is what matters most. It’s a clear indicator that the Trump administration is serious about economic reform, despite establishment obstructionism.

Earlier this year, President Trump proposed a 10% universal tariff on foreign imports—dubbed “Liberation Day”—to boost American manufacturing and renegotiate decades of lopsided trade deals that gutted the U.S. industrial base.

Once again, President Trump is putting America’s veterans and workers first—backed not just by rhetoric, but by decisive action.
