Trump Rips ‘Scammers’ Omar, Walz Over Mounting Fraud Findings In MN
President Donald Trump escalated his criticism of Minnesota’s Democratic leadership over the weekend, accusing Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Ilhan Omar of presiding over what he described as one of the largest fraud scandals in U.S. history and suggesting the true scope of the theft far exceeds what has been publicly acknowledged.
Posting Saturday on Truth Social, the president asserted that investigations by his administration have uncovered significantly more fraud in Minnesota than the roughly $19 billion figure previously reported. Trump argued that the wrongdoing was allowed to flourish under the Biden administration, which he said knowingly failed to intervene.

“The Theft and Fraud in Minnesota is far greater than the 19 Billion Dollars originally projected. The Biden Administration knew this FRAUD was happening, and did absolutely nothing about it. ‘Scammer’ Illhan Omar and her absolutely terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail right now or, far worse, send them back to Somalia. ‘Governor’ Waltz is either the most CORRUPT government official in history, or the most INCOMPETENT. Even a very low IQ person, of which there are many, should have known what was going on in Minnesota!!!” Trump wrote.
The president has repeatedly argued that Minnesota’s fraud scandal reflects a broader collapse of accountability under Democratic leadership. In an interview Friday, Trump called for Omar to be prosecuted, saying she should face jail time in connection with extensive abuse of federal and state benefit programs uncovered by authorities.
“This is a scandal like nobody’s ever seen before,” Trump said. “People should go to jail, including Omar, in my opinion.”
Trump discussed ongoing investigations into fraudulent activity involving public assistance programs in Minnesota, including food aid, healthcare, and other social services. While he did not cite evidence directly linking Omar to criminal charges, he emphasized that, as a prominent federal lawmaker from the state, she bears responsibility for what he characterized as systemic corruption and lax enforcement.
Federal prosecutors and state officials have already charged dozens of individuals in cases tied to the alleged misuse of federal nutrition programs and other benefits. To date, no public charges have been filed against Omar, and her office has not announced that she is under investigation.
Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, has denied any wrongdoing and has previously dismissed the controversy as politically motivated. Her spokesperson did not immediately respond to media requests for comment.
Trump has also accused Walz and Omar of encouraging protests against federal immigration enforcement in order to deflect attention from the fraud investigations. Two weeks ago, he claimed that demonstrations opposing Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the Twin Cities were being amplified by Democratic leaders to distract the public.
“ICE is removing some of the most violent criminals in the World from our Country, and bring them back home, where they belong. Why is Minnesota fighting this? Do they really want murderers and drug dealers to be ensconced in their community? The thugs that are protesting include many highly paid professional agitators and anarchists. Is this really what Minnesota wants?” Trump wrote.
He added: “The crooked Governor and ‘Congresswoman’ Omar, who married her brother, don’t mind because it keeps the focus of attention off the 18 Billion Dollar, Plus, FRAUD, that has taken place in the State! Don’t worry, we’re on it!”
In a separate Truth Social post, Trump reiterated his claims and again suggested Omar should be deported, framing the issue as both a corruption scandal and a question of national loyalty.
“There is 19 Billion Dollars in Minnesota Somalia Fraud. Fake ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, a constant complainer who hates the USA, knows everything there is to know. She should be in jail, or even a worse punishment, sent back to Somalia, considered one of the absolutely worst countries in the World. She could help to MAKE SOMALIA GREAT AGAIN!” the president wrote.
