President Donald J. Trump is demanding full accountability from former President Barack Obama after newly declassified intelligence revealed what Trump is calling a "treasonous conspiracy" to sabotage his presidency and undermine the will of the American people.

During a high-profile Oval Office meeting on Tuesday with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Trump didn’t mince words. Responding to questions about a bombshell intelligence release from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, the President laid blame squarely at the feet of his predecessor.

“Based on what I read, and I read pretty much what you read, it would be President Obama. He started it,” Trump said, referring to the 2016 operation that framed his campaign for Russian collusion. “He was the leader of the gang,” Trump continued, listing Obama allies including then-CIA Director John Brennan, DNI James Clapper, and then-Vice President Joe Biden.

“Barack Hussein Obama, have you heard of him?” Trump asked pointedly. “This was treason. This was every word you could think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined.”

The intelligence report, released Friday by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, lays out a disturbing plot that, according to Gabbard, amounts to a full-scale attempt to subvert the 2016 election and cripple Trump’s first term.

“The information we are releasing today clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government,” Gabbard said in a televised press conference. “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup with the objective of trying to usurp the President from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people.”

Trump hailed the release as long-overdue vindication and a turning point in exposing the deep corruption of the Obama-era intelligence apparatus.

“This is like proof, irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious, that Obama was trying to lead a coup,” Trump said. “It was with Hillary Clinton, with all of these other people, but Obama headed it up. This is the biggest scandal in the history of our country.”

When pressed further, Trump added: “If you look at those papers, they have him stone-cold, and it was President Obama.”

Gabbard has already referred multiple individuals for criminal prosecution and hinted that thousands more pages of classified material are still on the way. According to Trump, she told him personally that the most damning revelations are yet to come.

Last week, Gabbard declared that Obama and his inner circle committed an “egregious abuse of power and blatant rejection of our Constitution” that struck at “the very foundation and integrity of our democratic republic.”

“No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, to ensure nothing like this ever happens again,” she said. “The American people’s faith and trust in our democratic republic and therefore the future of our nation depends on it.”

With mounting pressure from inside the White House and from patriotic lawmakers across the country, the Department of Justice may soon have no choice but to act.
