Trump Says DOGE Uncovered a ‘Horrible’ Finding: ‘What They Found Is Incredible’

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump confirmed his desire for Elon Musk to remain involved with his administration as long as he wishes, hinting at a dramatic revelation uncovered by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

While speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump was asked about Musk’s continued role as a “special government employee,” according to Fox News.

“Elon is fantastic. He’s a patriot,” Trump said in response.

He emphasized that Musk is welcome to stay on “as long as he’d like,” noting that his personal preference is for Musk to remain “as long as possible.”

“I like smart people, and he’s a smart person. I also like him, personally,” Trump remarked.

“We’re in no rush. But there will be a point at which time Elon’s going to have to leave.”

Trump highlighted DOGE’s recent activities, describing a significant and unsettling discovery made earlier that day.

“They found something today that is horrible. It is horrible,” he stated. “You will find out very soon. What they found is incredible.”

He did not elaborate further when questioned by reporters.

According to Fox News, federal rules permit “special government employees” to serve no more than 130 days in a 365-day period—placing Musk’s current term end date at May 30.

Trump mentioned he might consider giving Musk a more formal government role, but acknowledged Musk’s obligations to his various businesses.

“He also has a company to run, or a number of companies to run,” Trump said.

He explained that once Musk steps away, “the secretaries” in his Cabinet will continue leading DOGE’s efficiency efforts.

“I’d keep him as long as I can keep him,” Trump reiterated earlier this week, as reported by Fox News.

“He’s a very talented guy. You know, I love very smart people. He’s very smart. And he’s done a good job.”

These remarks follow a Politico report suggesting that Musk’s departure was imminent due to internal tensions within the Trump administration.

However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the story as “garbage” on social media.

“Elon Musk and President Trump have both publicly stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete,” she clarified.

Trump had previously stated after the election that DOGE would remain active until July 4, 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
